FALLUJAH BOOTS
3-8-2007 | Darryl Sharratt

FALLUJAH BOOTS

To Red Rover: Justin and I wear the same size shoes. When he returned from his first tour of Iraq, he gave me a pair of worn, ratty combat boots. No longer serviceable, they were the boots he wore in Fallujah. I can’t pretend to know what he went through while wearing those boots, but they are a gift from a Marine son. I wear them as often as I can. Every step I take in them reminds me of my son, my hero. To walk in the steps of my hero.

Justin is not just my son, he’s America’s son. The Marines who served in Haditha are America’s sons. We must find a way to exonerate these brave Marines. They are a testament to those who served before them and will provide a legacy for those who serve after. We called upon them to protect us and they did. They did when others didn’t. They could because others couldn’t. United States Marines.

The support I have found here at Free Republic has given me the strength to carry on. Our Haditha Marines are innocent of these charges. I will not allow the media or the politicians to brand them expendable. Sooner or later the American people will wake up and realize what was truly at stake in Haditha. What we stand to lose in Iraq. Freedom hangs in the balance.

On Christmas Day, 2005, Capt Lucas McConnell, Kilo Company Cmdr gave my son a small book “The Strenuous Life” by Theodore Roosevelt. I quote: I wish to preach, not the doctrine of ignoble ease, but the doctrine of the strenuous life, The life of toil and effort, of labor and strife; To preach the highest form of success which comes, not to the man who desires mere easy peace, but to the man who does not shrink from danger, from hardship, or from bitter toil, And who out of these wins the splendid triumph. Our Haditha Marines will triumph…………….. Darryl

The Democrats think the army is a Republican army, not an American army.

I wish more people would think for a minute what it would be like to walk in a rifleman's shoes...Watching your friends blown to pieces.

These bastards booby-trapped their dead in Fallujah. They have no respect for human life, including their own.

They dress up as women.

They hide bombs in taxicabs and on bicycles.

They blow up weddings... They blow up funerals.

Justin fought the side of righteousness. He will be exonerated, as will the rest of these men. Hold your head high Darryl.

Like general George S. Patton Jr., I sense general James Mattis of the same manly and honorable thread, shall bring his fist down hard on the table and say enough is enough.
There is no way your son or the others should be seperated from their units. They did nothing wrong.

Awwh, Mr. Sharratt, thankyou for your posts.

"Every step I take in them reminds me of my son, my hero."

You keep walking in those boots with pride.

Justin, along with all the other Marines, will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.

I should have read your website before posting my remarks, what is Justin's current status? Is he home? Is he confined? Obviously the MSM has nothing to report unless it makes our Marines look bad.

Your son and entire family, as well as the other Marines involved, are in our prayers.

God Speed & Semper Fidelis

I have often shared with some at FR how I felt moving about with a BN of Marines that just had returned from Iraq. I wonder how I would feel if I where honored to stand next to a General while a whole Marine Division past in review.
I would probably weep in silence.

We called upon them to protect us and they did. They did when others didn’t. They could because others couldn’t.

Exactly so, Darryl. And those of us who stand up for the Haditha Marines are doing the very least we can do.

When I come home from work at night, my wife doesn't ask about my job. She says, "How are the Marines?" She knows what matters now.

Our Haditha Marines will triumph.

Yes, they will. And their victory will be America's victory.
