Laff Riot: New Owner Suggests Air America Was Too Fair

Who says liberals lack a sense of humor? The new owner of Air America suggests that the original Air America went bankrupt because . . . it was too even-handed.
Mark Green is a veteran New York pol, having served as NYC's Public Advocate and run unsuccessfuly for US senator, NYC mayor and state attorney general. His family business recently completed the acquisition of Air America out of bankruptcy. Details here.
In an email distributed today [yup, I subscribe to their list], Green described what "Air America 2.0" will be like:
"It'll be a business with a sharp point of view. The era of on-the-one-hand-on-the-other-hand liberalism is over -- or as Robert Frost once wrote, 'a liberal man is too broad-minded to take his own side in a quarrel.'"
No doubt, that was the problem with the old Air America. Too fair. You remember. The network that, in addition to Al Franken's daily slew of Bush hatred brought you Randi Rhodes playing audio of gunshots suggesting the assassination of President Bush, and exclaiming "here's your answer . . . you little bastard."
In the words of Robert Frost, "broad-minded" indeed. Thank goodness Mark Green is here to yank Air America out of its excess of even-handedness.

As they say, the first generation makes the money, the second generation holds its own and the third generation blows it.

That's a fact. I can't imagine living in the greatest nation the world has ever seen and having a mind set that teeters on the brink of anarchy..The longest lasting empire ever known to man, The Roman Empire, endured for 500 years. I doubt that America will break the record, we have too many people inside trying to destroy the reason for being... The Constitution.

He purchased Air America and expects to be able to make it profitable.
Did you expect him to make rational comments about why it failed and how he will fix it?

This is great... If Green really believes this, there are a few more very entertaining years ahead for money-losing Demodogs on AirAm (and companies who advertise there)

Certainly there are some communists, tree huggers and assorted tinfoil hat types that would tilt the leftward leaning Air America even farther to the kook fringe. I'm sure Hugo Chavez and Kim Jung-il would welcome a chance to do a US radio show.

Yup. As I noted in the article, he ran unsuccessfully for NYC mayor, US senator and state Attorney General. Any politician with any self-esteem would have to cut his own throat if he were the first to lose to Mark Green.

Yeah, I fear for this nation too. We are not nearly as heavy handed with our enemies as was ancient Rome and
in this modern information age, the rate of change is
accelerated....JJ61

The Democrats need to hitch their wagon to Al Jazeera, at least they'll get a steady diet of the news they want to hear...

Of course. I hadn't made the association with previous reports. It's that Mark Green. He's pure socialist.

"I prefer:
'A liberal is someone who is so open minded, their brains fell out'"
I don't prefer that at all. The PC de-gendered formulation combines the singular 'someone' with the plural possessive 'their,' creating along the way the oddity of group brains while mixing present tense (is) with past tense (fell).
Creating new aphorisms isn't as easy as it looks. LOL

This is wonderful news!
If the original Bevis and Butthead network sank like a stone, losing tens of millions$ in the process, I can see great things coming out of this "leaner and meaner" version...
Hundreds of millions$ this time, one can hope.
Redistribute the wealth; that's the ticket!
