Shooting Elephants in a Barrel [Ann Coulter]
Human Events ^ | March 7, 2007 | Ann Coulter

Posted on 03/07/2007 3:56:09 PM PST by kabar

Lewis Libby has now been found guilty of perjury and obstruction of justice for lies that had absolutely no legal consequence.

It was not a crime to reveal Valerie Plame's name because she was not a covert agent. If it had been a crime, Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald could have wrapped up his investigation with an indictment of the State Department's Richard Armitage on the first day of his investigation since it was Armitage who revealed her name and Fitzgerald knew it.

With no crime to investigate, Fitzgerald pursued a pointless investigation into nothing, getting a lot of White House officials to make statements under oath and hoping some of their recollections would end up conflicting with other witness recollections, so he could charge some Republican with "perjury" and enjoy the fawning media attention.

As a result, Libby is now a convicted felon for having a faulty memory of the person who first told him that Joe Wilson was a delusional boob who lied about his wife sending him to Niger.

This makes it official: It's illegal to be Republican.

this is one of the main reasons Rudy is riding so high even with conservatives

Rudy would have come out immediatly fighting the press and the Rats

Libby would still be working in the VP office protecting our country

Republicans are tired of being pushed around and not having a strong street fighter in the White House

no more nice guy Bush letting Pelosi and Reid slam him on everything while he praises their patriotism

why are Clintonistas immune from prosecution???

because the Clintons have copies of F.B.I. files which I call a "J.Edgar Hoover" insurance policy.

too bad Libby didn't have Sandy Burglar's attorney.

Libby should have remembered Bubba's favorite line,
"I don't recall."

Is a painting or the cover of a CD case?

The image was actually the album cover for Led Zeppelin's 4th release. It is a photo of a painting hanging on a wall.

There is nothing the Administration could of done about it.

Have to disagree on that. One thing that could have made a difference would have been appointing someone other than 'Rat Fitzgerald as the Special Prosecutor. Maybe a Republican without connections to the Administration?

Ann Coulter writes: "Criminal prosecution is a substitute for polical warfare."

Unfortunately, she is correct in regard to today's America. Somewhere in the distant beyond, Josef Stalin would know exactly what she's saying.

How depressing that this country that theoretically embodies "justice for all" has become Sovietized to such an extent by the decadence of its criminal justice system!

The administration certainly could have prosecuted Sandy Berger in a way in which he would have got jail time.

More to the point, the administration could have prosecuted Bill Clinton in a way in which he would have gotten a life sentence. (Remember, for example, the Vince Foster homicide and the selling of military technology to China in exchange for campaign contributions.)

That would have not only served justice, but would have spared us the spectacle of Tubba making a run for president with Bubba at her side and the MSM gloating about it.

As a footnote, it is most probable that Bubba was a co-conspirator in the Sandy Burglar escapade. Highly unlikely that he took the classified documents without being told to do so.

Is it too late? It could prosecute Hillary also.

From a strictly legal point of view, Berger has already been prosecuted, and so prosecuting him again would violate the "double jeopardy" clause of the Constitution.

As for HRC, yes, theoretically she could still be prosecuted in connection with the homicide of former law partner Vince Foster (there is no statute of limitations on capital offenses!), but there is obviously no will to do so.

As for her non-capital offenses, that would depend upon the specific statute of limitations that pertains.

Congress did not outlaw Special Prosecutors. You are probably confusing Special Prosecutors witn Independent Counsels. The former are appointed by the executive branch (Attorney General), the latter were (when the Indedepndent Counsel Act was in effect) appointed by a panel of judges.

To alienate entire voting blocs as she did, was just DUMB.

Ann happens to be more representative of Conservatism than you, my open borders "friend". Your bashing Coulter for her well known barbs is much less dangerous to this nation than your advocacy for illegal immigrants to be given....GIVEN citizenship and pardoned for the crime of being illegal. Perhaps in your small business you hire illegals to work at slave labor wages. Perhaps not. Perhaps you'd wish to be able to. It's a wonder, really.

Coulter surely does not seek, nor would accept as valid your criticisms of her actions. Since they clearly are empty, given the quite Liberal and socialistic stance you seem to harbor on social issues. In fact, claiming "conservative" leanings on fiscal issues when they do not mesh on the social aspects leads one to surmise it's not fiscal conservatism you advocate, but stingy financial dealings. A charge thrown at conservatives quite regularly.

It is not Coulter's commentary that turns off voters, it's the cafeteria conservatism that folks like you advocate. Coulter is consistent. In that, she's far and away a better representative for the movement.

The Left has been clamoring for more outrage from the Right to denounce Ann.

For what? Telling the truth about what they are?

That just burns me up! I still feel that Burger should be in a prison somewhere sweating out a few years (along with all those other Dim criminals).

I've had enough of all the Dimwitcrat garbage! They'd be a total joke...if it wasn't for the serious fact that they can, and will, ruin this country.
