Shooting Elephants in a Barrel [Ann Coulter]
Human Events ^ | March 7, 2007 | Ann Coulter

Posted on 03/07/2007 3:56:09 PM PST by kabar

Lewis Libby has now been found guilty of perjury and obstruction of justice for lies that had absolutely no legal consequence.

It was not a crime to reveal Valerie Plame's name because she was not a covert agent. If it had been a crime, Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald could have wrapped up his investigation with an indictment of the State Department's Richard Armitage on the first day of his investigation since it was Armitage who revealed her name and Fitzgerald knew it.

With no crime to investigate, Fitzgerald pursued a pointless investigation into nothing, getting a lot of White House officials to make statements under oath and hoping some of their recollections would end up conflicting with other witness recollections, so he could charge some Republican with "perjury" and enjoy the fawning media attention.

As a result, Libby is now a convicted felon for having a faulty memory of the person who first told him that Joe Wilson was a delusional boob who lied about his wife sending him to Niger.

This makes it official: It's illegal to be Republican.

The administration certainly could have prosecuted Sandy Berger in a way in which he would have got jailtime.

Is it too late? It could prosecute Hillary also.

Ego and a career move. He's hoping for a Democratic Admin and a high DoJ position.

Ann Coulter has hit the nail straight on ... she's absolutely right on the money. All you self righteous dweebs that were beating her senseless over her misrepresented 'fag' remark take a huge f***ing walk ... you're sunny day sailors.

I have more regard for Counter than ever before.
The Libby conviction makes me regard our "legal" cesspool less and less each day. We have no laws worth a damn if anyone with a law degree and political backing can abuse the system like Fitzgerald did, behind a cheering media.

Correction. Answers need to be, "I don't recall".

It worked for the Clintons!

And yes, Edwards is a fop!

"This pathetic need of you losers to twist every thread into an excuse to scream your idiot hate for GW Bush at the top of you lungs is WAY past old."

Yes, it is better to quietly lose against the dems while comforting ourselves that we were on the side of right and there was nothing we could do. Shout down those who complain and point out the missed opportunities and the resulting lost elections. How silly for people in a republic to elect people to fight for their beliefs, for good people, for truth or for what is right. They are elected to get along and to take it. Besides, the deck is stacked against us, life is unfair and it would be wrong to enforce the laws. Perhaps we can just wait for the meek to inherit the earth, scorched as it may be.

BTW, I don't hate Bush. I voted for him twice and his father twice, donated money to both, etc. They are good men which is why they are worthy of my support, but they both were and are losing to lesser men and women, over and over again.

"So what do you think?"

Fitzy is bucking for a supreme court appointment from the next democrat president. His "day job" is poking around in Illinois, mostly going after Republicans, but with enough democrats in the mix to give the media an orgasm. It does not appear that he will not touch the criminal Daly and Blagojevich regimes.

Ann is a brilliant thinker and has a great wit. She also is not bad to look at - I'm not looking of course. I would recommend she needs a little more meat on them bones - kinda reminds me of an anorexic model. While I am "preaching" I should mention I wished she would wear more modest clothing. She is a lovely lady, in more than just physical attributes, and doesn't need to be showing off her physical "assets" so much. Like I said, she is a brilliant thinker and very entertaining.

Nonsense. Ashcroft ran the Justice Department. Why did he let some clintonoid stooge appoint a Democrat prosecutor with an agenda?

Why didn't the President or a spokesman in the Justice Department point out that no crime had been committed, since Valerie Plame was not a covert agent and therefore the law in question did not apply?

Why did they let a Special Prosecutor be appointed, when congress outlawed Special Prosecutors during the clinton years?

It's not disloyal to the administration if you point out that they keep shooting themselves in the foot and had better stop doing it. As a private person, Bush can turn the other cheek and refuse to defend himself as often as he likes. As President of the United States, he has a duty to his country which includes standing up to injustice, falsehood, and evil. He and Ashcroft screwed up, and now it has come back to haunt them.

"Why did they let a Special Prosecutor be appointed, when congress outlawed Special Prosecutors during the clinton years?"

Fitzgerald was not an Independent Special Prosecutor. That office has been done away with.

But there were still "whistle blower protection" statutes on the book. And it was under one of these that Fitzgerald was appointed.

God knows how the whistle blowers is supposed to have been here. Joe Wilson?

He's more of a whistling blowhard.
