Good LORD this case is going to win on Appeal.

But, the damage will have been done. The libs don't care if their cases are overturned. It's for the here and now audiences they play too. If a verdict is overturned, that'll play into their hands as well. They can then scream, the repubs are stealing our conviction just like they stole the WH. Some such blather from them. It's a win win, and they know it.

He's really savoring his 15 minutes of fame, isn't he?

"If you examine their testimony carefully--most of their memories improved with time like vintage wine--and at most the conversations were about 30 seconds long at a time when (pre Corn's Emma Peel story) the information wasn't memorable and there was no evidence Libby heard whatever they said."

Excellent points, especially the highlted part, but Lugsoul is a Fitz bot.

Can you get a JNOV in a criminal trial? I know you can in a civil trial but the standard of proof is lower.

What did the nine people testify?

I know what Ari said, and I know what the other eight said.

Please tell me how (with the evidence and testimony), they found him guilty on four counts.

He can't pardon anybody until the legal system has completely played out and there is a sentence.

Caspar Weinberger had not even been tried yet when Pres. Bush pardoned him in 1992. I always thought that was a little strange, but that's not the only example.

In the case of Libby, the system has "played out" to a greater extent than it had for Weinberger or Nixon prior to their pardons. Unlike either of them, Libby has been convicted.

He didn't testify in court---what I meant was that his GJ record of statements was clearly not looking good to the jury.

:-) Sorry, my lunch is over. I will follow via the thread.

Just One Minute has been good. So has firedoglake when you ignore the rants- they are fine relative to the law and when transcribing arguments/questions. LOL Although fdl's server errored out when the verdict was read.

Jeralyn Merritt is on HuffPo- she does a great job. Tom Maguire linked to her from the beginning and they have been making really interesting observations since.

She called it completely wrong after closing arguments - not guilty on all counts. She felt that Wells had made a powerful case of reasonable doubt. Not that I want her to be wrong, but to show that she was being objective as it wasn't the verdict she wanted.

Irony: Wilson, who believes in prosecuting liars when nobody is charged with any underlying crime, is working for Richardson -- Monica's pimp!

Actaully, from the about page, it was an anti-giuliani type. And what makes you think I'd wish violence on anyone. The only threats of violence I have seen were from Pro-Rudy posters, including Joan Wilder and DKNY, which were promptly removed.

You and the rest of the rutards should really quit it with your campaign of lies, you are looking more ridiculous by the day.

Two cents change.

"Libby lied and got caught. You cant be told and tell others about Wilson and Plame and that she works at the CIA that many times, including trying to get Fleischer to leak the story to the press three days earlier and then magically be told for the first time by Tim Russert."

LOL, you don't even know what Libby was on trial for, do you? It was Armitage that ADMITTED revealing Plames name as a CIA agent before Libby said anything. No one was charged with outing Plame, this was all about alleged lying about a conversation that had nothing to do with an illegal act. It was a strictly he said, he said.

Get a clue, dude.

Before anyone feels too sorry for Lewis "Scooter" Libby, remember:
"Libby's testimony:Lewis Libby comes to Marc Rich’s defense.
March 2, 2001

Lewis Libby, a top Republican lawyer who is now vice president Dick Cheney's chief of staff, told the House Government Reform Committee last night that he agreed with much of Bill Clinton's widely discredited op-ed article outlining the former president's reasons for pardoning fugitive tax evader Marc Rich.

In a session that stretched late into the evening, Libby, who represented Rich for several years ending in the spring of 2000, told the committee he believes Rich is not guilty of the tax and racketeering charges filed by federal prosecutors in 1983. Libby also said he "quite possibly" would have considered applying for a pardon for Rich had Rich asked him to do so.

Libby, who said his law firms collected as much as $2 million for representing Rich, testified he had nothing to do with the application that led to clemency for Rich. He declined to say whether he approved of the decision to pardon Rich, but he conceded that he called Rich on January 22, two days after the pardon, to "congratulate him on having reached a result that he had sought for a long time." Libby testified he made the call from his home to make clear that he was calling in a personal capacity, and not as a representative of the Bush administration."

Mr. and Mrs. Libby are going to retire with more money to their names than most Americans would earn in 100 lifetimes. Don't you lose any sleep over this.

Why does stick in your craw? You don't believe in capitalism?!?

AC, your blithe non-concern about this, the process or ramifications is amazing and slightly disgusting at the same time.

You needn't respond to me anymore about this issue. We are on different planets about it apparently.

Makes sense from their perspective. They're hoping if the Pres. says he won't pardon Libby, that Libby will spill his guts on the VP.

Unbelievable.

Listening to everything spewing from the Dims and the media, it's clear they won't let this stop here. They want Cheney's head on a plate, and if Fitzgerald won't give it to them, they'll find someone who will. And Fitz is definitely smart enough to realize that.
