Breaking on MSNBC
rope a dope?
I'm sure if you had it your way, he'd be taken up against a wall and shot.
"He's probably already got the Cheney indictment 90 percent complete"
You could very well be right on that.
Scooter won't spend a day in jail. He will appeal, either win there or get pardoned.
Wow. I'm not a lawyer, but if they're saying "Where's Rove?" that screams "mistrial" to me. Remember, this case, as the trolls who jumped on this thread reminded is, was only about Libby's lying.
And do you have to make EVERY thread on FR a rant against Rudy? Give it a freaking rest!
Can a legal scholar out there explain the ramifications of this verdict and under what circumstances Libby can appeal. This is completely unbelievable to me based on what I have read about the flimsy case against him. Prayers for Scooter.
This is the whole point. The ONLY thing Libby should have said was "I don't recall. I talk to a lot of people every day." He obviously said something else, and unfortunately, my guess is he must have said it with an arrogance that turned off the jury. Why he didn't just shut up and say, "Can't remember" is beyond me.
MR BUSH! Pardon this man. The trial was nothing more than a witch hunt.
I'm surprised Harry had time to make a statement in between closing on his various sweetheart real estate deals in Nevada and pushing business to his lobbyist sons!
I am absolutley disgusted by the rank hypocrisy on display here!
JUROR: WE HAD SYMPATHY FOR LIBBY, HE WAS THE FALL-GUY, WHERE WAS ROVE, WHERE WERE THE OTHERS...? SOME JURORS SAID 'THIS SUCKS, WE WISH WE WEREN'T JUDGING LIBBY'...

These have been issued in the past. This is exactly the kind of case in which it should be granted. There is no question but that there is reasonable doubt as to Libby's guilt. Anyone who read the transcripts of Russert's pathetic testimony would realize that the prosecution's star witness had the memory of an advanced Alzheimer's patient.
A JNOV would restore some of my lost faith in the Judicial System. But the question is whether the judge has the political will to withstand the firestorm that would result from such a decision.
I'd prefer we used a little common sense and less idiotic goose-stepping.
Fitzgerald has requested to place Scooter into the same prison cell as the two border agents.
i've always wondered why novak wrote that column and how he feels about the "katrina" that followed it
Arethey on a conservative webiste, r were you unable to properly read my post, which you captioned, btw.
Good try, here's your 2 cents change for a useless post.
how about "removed" from public archives?
Indeed. Sometimes I think a Katrina-style event in Washington DC, would benefit our country immensely.
Let's clean em out and move the countries' capitol to a red state.
When the discussion was about Libby simply claiming he didn't remember, and was trying to be truthful, I thought he could make that argument.
But when they took to trying to show that Libby told the truth, I thought things looked bad for him, because while I could easily believe he could get things wrong in his interviews and testimony, I couldn't believe that even now he could believe what he had said was the truth.
Except for the Cooper charge, which of course he was found not guilty about, the charges were supportable, and required only a determination of whether you thought Libby was purposely misleading, or just confused, when he made the statements.
Libby didn't really present evidence that he was confused. Not testifying made it hard for the jury to accept that argument.
I think it's absurd he was tried on these charges when it was clear there was nothing to "obstruct", but I'm not hysterical about the verdict as some people are.
Hopefully, the judge will way the trivialness of the charges when passing sentence. And if the sentences are too harsh, hopefully Bush will pardon him at the end of his term.
