LOS ANGELES, March 4 Three weeks ago a handful of reporters at an international press junket here for the Warner Brothers movie 300, about the battle of Thermopylae some 2,500 years ago, cornered the director Zack Snyder with an unanticipated question.
Is George Bush Leonidas or Xerxes? one of them asked.
The questioner, by Mr. Snyders recollection, insisted that Mr. Bush was Xerxes, the Persian emperor who led his force against Greeks city states in 480 B.C., unleashing an army on a small country guarded by fanatical guerilla fighters so he could finish a job his father had left undone. More likely, another reporter chimed in, Mr. Bush was Leonidas, the Spartan king who would defend freedom at any cost.

Sounds like a definite vote of confidence, alright! LOL.
It looks like a good action adventure movie to me.
These libs are losing thier minds. The movie is an adaptation of Frank Miller's 300 - which he did in 1998! Two years before President Bush was elected and three years before 9/11. And yet some insist on seeing President Bush as either the villian or hero. These people are certifiably insane! And that is Dr. Son's 2 bit medical prognosis.
That looks pretty bogus to me, too. Also, according to the trailer, it looks as if the Greek forces are trying to win the battle with incessant shouting.
(Liberals upset about 300 movie)
Why would ANYONE become upset about a Bowling movie????
Well given that this movie is based on the graphic novel, which itself was based on another movie, which was from an era when historical accuracy was even lower on the priority list than it tends to be now, historical innacuracies shouldn't be suprising. But it should be a lot of fun. And being a huge Frank Miller fan I'm all for movie adaptations to his stuff, makes the books easier to find.
And that is right. From what I have seen of the trailors, the movie is classic good guy/bad guy stuff, which the libs hate. If all the characters in a story are not scumbags, then - to them - it is not a good story. Heaven forbid the audience should actually cheer for something good!
Wonder where it's laying in Raleigh?
I am soooooo pumped to see this movie. I have heard it is coming out simotaneously on Omnimax BTW...
Wonder where it's playing in Raleigh?
Wonder where it's playing in Raleigh?
The movie follows carefully the highly stylized imagry of the 1990 graphic novel. It is not meant to be historically scupulous.
bump..
Tried to catch my mistake but couldn;t. laying should be playing.
ok I wasn't going to watch this simply because it looked like alot of Hollywierd hokey baloney on a battle I'm very familiar with.
But now that I see the libs hate it, maybe I'll have to go watch it :P
I plan on going to see it Friday at the local IMAX theater. This is probably the only movie I will see this year. I been waiting forever for this movie when I saw the trailer a year ago.
couldn't
My excuse is the new keyboard
Are the neighbors getting annoyed yet? 8-)
After never fully believing in patriotism and the U.S. flag, Miller discusses how the events of 9/11 shaped his newfound belief in patriotism and the flag. In discussing 9/11, Miller says, I draw and write comic books. One thing my job involves is making up bad guys. Imagining human villainy in all its forms. Now the real thing had showed up. The real thing murdered my neighbors. In my city. In my country. Miller adds, Patriotism, I now believe, isnt some sentimental, old, conceit. Its self-preservation. I believe patriotism is central to a nations survival.
Geez, why does everything have to have a hidden meaning and agenda? Maybe this is just ebtertainment for entertainment's sake. These people want to sell tickets, not exclude half the audience with a political agenda.
