Just got a call from FReeper ExSoldier. He had severe chest pains last night and is now in a coronary unit of a VA Hospital. Said he was doing better and hopes to be released today or tomorrow, but he's currently hooked up to a bunch of IVs and is undergoing tests. Doctors told him it wasn't a heart attack but it was something.
That's all the info I have at this time. Will post updates as they arrive.

Great news!
ExSoldier is being released from the hospital as I'm typing this. No details yet, but he did have a stress test today.
Appalachian_dweller asked me to relay his heartfelt gratitude for all the prayers and wishes. AD is one of the best people I know.
ExSoldier is one of those that TM CANNOT do without, and I personally thank you all for your prayers as well. He has been a good friend and is a great man.
Prayers coming your way!
Prayers the doctors will soon have you up and around, ExSoldier.

Thoughts & prayers for you during this time.
I had chest pains at dinner with friends. I wanted to go home and rest. BS says the BOSS (my wife). You're going to the VA and RIGHT NOW. So we went. No waiting, no fuss. But I really howled when the established the permanent IV with which to shoot other stuff into me. That went into my hand just at the wrist. I'm still wincing and it's been out for hours. My wife thought the paint would come off the walls in the E.R. when that needle went in. Like those folks could be shocked! I'm sure I'm not the first old soldier to use profanity in there. LOL
Then they drew blood and they gave me two rounds of nitro, among other things. After the nitro the pain left my chest and so did that awful squeezing I'd never before in my life experienced. The VA admitted me to their CCU and began the tests. I was hooked up like I've never seen before.
I drew the line when they wanted to give me three shots in the gut. They were all very calm but the cast of Gray's Anatomy visited in real life. Yes the "new" docs were invited in on MY case. They got to weigh in with me as to WHY I should allow them to inject me in the belly with a blood thinner three times in 24 hours, and the IZZY character (yep she was a honey....) just overwhelmed me with her....logic. So I got the shots. NOT FUN!
When they kept running tests I got a bit worried but I really sweated when they made me take a stress test. I had a relative that literally dropped dead on one of those. But they had a crack cardio team right there and the crash cart was right there and I just trusted them totally. They took two echo-cardiograms one prior and one after.
Okay! The upshot was that it was no heart attack, but it was something. The consensus seems to be something rare (but not that rare to to folks like me with a bad case of Acid Reflux) called an "ESOPHOGEAL CLUTCH" that mimics the symptoms of heart attack and more importantly seeming to confirm that by being soothed by NITRO. Their warnings were clear:
"Just cause we didn't find anything this time doesn't mean there was nothing to find. If you feel the symptoms again, come back here double time! You are still at risk for a real Heart Attack. Change your lifestyle. Get more exercise and eat right. The stress test didn't kill you neither will a good walk. Go forth and Sin no more.
I'm supposed to take it easy but I'm well out of sick days and in fact I'm now about three days without pay so I'm off to work tomorrow. Again, thank you one and all for your prayers, kind words and support. Special thanks to AD, HipShot and trussell for getting the word out.
Prayers for a full recovery!!
So thankful for the update. Prayers answered.
