I read about this in the WSJ. I think Gore set up his company that sells carbon offsets to raise political $ from Hollywood. What a farce.

I think I'll sell carbon offsets. I can guarantee, when you buy my offset, there will be no more carbon in the world when you die than when you were born. And, for a small premium, I can guarantee no more carbon in the Universe when you die.

The truth about Gore's Oscar. The following excerpt was taken from an email received from W Ketchup.
Eagle Bridge, NY March 1, 2007 On Sunday, February 25, failed presidential candidate Al Gores documentary about global warming, An Inconvenient Truth, won an Oscar for best documentary. According to the NY Daily News, fewer than 300 people were eligible to vote in the documentary category for the award. In his movie, Gore claims that production of carbon-dioxide from human energy use will cause devastating changes to the Earths atmosphere within 10 years.
IMHO this guy Gore is in need of some serious psychiatric help.

I have yet to see this mentioned on the news, even Fox. O'Reilly has had several rants about Gore's energy use but has yet to mention this. This is the big story here.

I see income potential here. I am, at this time, doing the necessary paper work to setup a carbon trading company. I am sure that moon bats will be tearing the doors off trying to purchase carbon offset certificates. Wow, to think until a few days ago I thought this global warming was just another crack pot idea, I fully support it, want more of it. I see income....lots of it.

Al Gore defends his extraordinary personal energy usage by telling critics he maintains a "carbon neutral" lifestyle by buying "carbon offsets," . . . This whole "carbon offset" mantra is a lot of crap. If Al Gore really believed that climate change is a problem and that human activity is part of the problem, he'd reduce his "extraordinary personal energy usage" and buy the "carbon offets" ANYWAY.

This is beginning to get close to my suspicions.
I suspect that somewhere under all the carbon credit hoopla is a buried tax credit or benefit. Gore some how has converted his personal electric/energy expense to a revenue generating asset via the tax code or some other government program.
It will be a delicious scandal if he buys the carbon credits from self owned Brit company that gets the benefit from the UK parliment.
