A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Welcome to TGIF at the Finest! We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday. If you missed seeing any of this week's threads and want to say hello there now, just click on the link for that particular day. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today through Sunday, please feel free to do that also. One of us will try to be around to see the welcome mat is still out, put the coffee pot on, and maybe even bring fresh flowers for the table. : )

"Wear Red" Friday
You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why..... The Americans, who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are. Many Americans, like yourself, and all their friends, simply want to recognize that Americans support our troops. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red-blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.
Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a University. If every one of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red! So let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE. FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!! GOD BLESS AMERICA.
I received this in my email June 10th, 2006 - the author is unknown. I am wearing red today and every Friday ~ Billie

Does it have an http at the top? You can copy and paste it into an e-mail to yourself. That's what I do. I have a special folder for videos in Outlook Express. Or maybe save it to "your documents"?
Now, I gotta go see how you did! :D

Why should the fear "big business" in Grand Island? Who do they think would pay the taxes that would keep those bridges maintained withOUT tolls! Sheesh! Point that out to them next time!

HI, I haven't been here in a while. Busy being a new mom again and all. My son is 5, daughter is now 15 months. I am finally getting some time to myself so that I can surf like I used to.
It is wonderful to see the support for the military still holding strong here. The kind words that everyone sends out makes all the difference.
My husband came back from Iraq almost 2 years ago, (hence the 15 month old daughter ;-) ). We have since moved to Georgia and the National Guard unit he is with now has not been deployed yet. They are also an MP battalion and that seems to be what is required over there. He has not received any orders yet and there hasn't been too much talk about going, but I would appreciate any prayers that you can send our way. If called, I know that he will gladly go and do what he can, but I would really like to keep him here. I feel like we have beaten the odds once already if you know what I mean.
Again, I want to thank all of you who are praying for our troops. My prayers go up everyday for those who are separated from their families and are in harm's way. God bless you all. Thank you for your sacrifice.

I missed you by a few miles, didn't I? Ah, sigh... the working person's life. I can sneak in a bit of FReeping on the job with the best of them, but work is so relentlessly busy that I cannot find a moment to get in a "Peek 'n' FReep" as I call it...*grin.* THAT is how busy we are.
I saw your comment so much earlier this morning but felt helpless.
Anyway, I will catch up with you this weekend.

Hi spotbust1 :)
Thank you. God bless you and your family. We are so grateful to our Military and their families. I pray everyday for you all. We are truly blessed by Heroes, like your Husband.
A 5 year old and a 15 month, you certainly are busy. :)

Way to go. You did fantastic. There is no reason to pay that toll. It is a commuter's tax. 6000 signatures is terrific! There was no answer to your point, if the money was needed to upkeep the bridge then why aren't all bridges in NY State requiring toll for that purpose.

I hope you had a good day. You must be tired.
Funny, one time I was at the town. I had to go to building dept. I was waiting for someone to come back with info and I heard the Freeper pinger go off. I recognized that sound immediately. I must have had a silly grin on my face right then too. LOL!!

Hi, (((Gracie)))...
I had to think about that for a sec. Oh, how funny, someone's pinger went off at work while you were there... that's a scream. He or she must have been in one of those "instense" discussions...LoL.
I keep the sound muted at my workstation. Also, if one doesn't have enough time to switch to a work window, FR does not look like a website. It looks very plain and businesslike. So, for all that co-workers know, it's another database or a Word document.
Of course, that's unless I'm on a graphics-heavy thread.... Oh well. Hahah.

I got the video fine...but the only thing to save was the website itself and it would change with the news. Rus, you might have to ask the station to send you a CD and then rip it and save into your hard drive...would that work?
