This may sound like a strange question but I am serious.
Could the dog food contamination be an act of terrorism? Muslims think dogs are unclean but they know Americans love their pets.
Too paranoid?

OPINION: Food contamination in general could be an act of terrorism.
Investigators can/do determine whether terrorism is involved.
I have not heard/read of any update at this time that indicates terrorism was involved in the pet food recall.

"The Russian Effect"
By Ariel Cohen
FrontPageMagazine.com | March 20, 2007
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "As the world focuses on Irans nuclear program and Russian complex diplomatic dance around it, another aspect of Middle Eastern destabilization tends to be neglected: the flow of advanced Russian weapons to Syria. Not only these weapons may boost Damascus aggressiveness, they have fallen in the hands of Hezbollah and Hamas, and may wreak havoc in case of another and likely flare-up against these terrorist organizations."

"Inflation to hit 5 000 percent mark this year: IMF"
Monday 19 March 2007
By Justin Muponda
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "HARARE Zimbabwes economic crisis will heighten further in the coming months with inflation breaching the 5 000 percent mark by year-end as President Robert Mugabe battles to contain a deep recession that is seen destabilising the region, a senior IMF official said.
International Monetary Fund Africa (IMF) Director Abdoulaye Bio-Tchane said Harare had shown little signs of coming to grips with its damaging economic problems, promising more hardships as political tensions escalate.
"It depends on how much the people in the country can take," Bio-Tchane was quoted by the international media as saying.
"The question is how far it could fall. The last four years we've seen GDP falling by more than 35 percent. Inflation is running at more than 1 700 percent and our estimate is by the year's end, it could move even beyond 5 000 percent."
Bio-Tchane spoke as Mugabe's government drew international outrage for assaulting in police custody Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) leader Morgan Tsvangirai and other opposition officials who were violently stopped from attending a prayer rally in Highfield.
The United States and Britain, which Mugabe accuses of punishing his government and plotting his downfall, have led the chorus of condemnation and threatened to tighten sanctions further against the Zimbabwean leader and his inner circle."

Afghan Extremists Killed During Coalition Operation
American Forces Press Service
WASHINGTON, March 20, 2007 Three suspected extremists were killed after firing at Afghan and coalition forces during an operation in Afghanistans Helmand province today, officials said.
The primary target of the operation was a known Taliban leader and facilitator of suicide bombers, believed to have controlled as many as 200 fighters in the area.
In addition to ordering assassinations of Afghan government officials, the militant leader is believed to have helped move suicide attackers into Helmand province by way of Kandahar and other nearby cities, military officials reported. There have been several recent attacks on Afghan and coalition forces in the area, including improvised explosive devices and small-arms fire.
The combined Afghan-coalition force responded to numerous shots from within the target compound. There were no injuries to any of the women and children in the compound, and there were no Afghan or coalition casualties in the operation, officials said.
Additionally, a motorcycle driven by an Afghan detonated a pressure-plate bomb, killing its operator on a highway southwest of Kandahar yesterday, military officials reported.
Afghan National Police immediately took control of the situation, secured the site, and prevented any other injuries to Afghans. No coalition members were injured during the attack.
Those individuals who facilitate the placing of IEDs are attempting to terrorize the Afghan people, Army Maj. Chris Belcher, a Combined Joint Task Force 82 spokesman, said. With the assistance of the Afghan people, Afghan National Security Forces, and coalition members, we will soon be able to prevent this type of inhumane act.

Smugglers shoot at border agents [South Texas]
The Monitor ^ | March 20, 2007 | Jeremy Roebuck
Posted on 03/20/2007 4:34:53 PM PDT by SwinneySwitch
SOUTH OF DONNA Border Patrol agents investigating a possible drug smuggling operation encountered gunfire from the Mexican side of the border Tuesday morning. No one was hurt, an agency spokesman said.
The agents stopped around 7:30 a.m. just south of the intersection of Tower Road and Military Highway, after spotting a raft carrying marijuana floating near the U.S. side of the river, said Border Patrol spokesman Oscar Saldaña.
As the agents approached the bank, someone across the river fired several rounds, Saldaña said. The agents returned fire, but said later that they didnt think they hit anyone.
Saldaña could not release a description of the shooters or say how many men may have been involved in the attack because they took cover in a brush patch. After the incident, agents retrieved 305 pounds of marijuana in four bundles from the U.S. side of the river.
This is the second attack in the Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol Sector this month. Two weeks ago, an agent came under attack from a suspected illegal immigrant throwing rocks near the Hidalgo-Reynosa port of entry. He sustained minor injuries, but his assailant fled to Mexico.
Weve been anticipating more incidents like this, Saldaña said. We have more people on the ground now, and with more people, youre going to run into more things. ____
