check out this killer driver in Tennessee who didn't like the religious conversation he had just had with two students.
It was the driver that said that Hitler didn't do a good job killing the Jews. You got your facts backwards.

Thanks. I notice in all those stories it was still attempted homicide, now that does ring a bell somewhere. But in this story it has become homicide so I guess after agonizing weeks in the hospital the poor young man finally died.
And in this rag of a paper, (the author of the story is listed as "Christian Bottorff" BTW), breaks the young student's death as a hot flash about Ahmed's disciplinary hearing at the cab company!
In my opinion this Christian Bottorff creature is about as subversive as one can get. Sounds like a warmed over Soviet apparatchik from the name.

The story in the Tennessean simply said there was an argument, that's why I said Ahmed didn't like the conversation. I have never commented on what the conversation consisted of as I have not heard anything about it in detail.

The man's identity and nationality were not released, though school spokesman Lance Feyh said he was an international student. When I was down in Rollamo in the early 70's, there were basically two kinds of "international students". There were many folks of Oriental descent in virtually every niche program (math & science across the spectrum)
There were also what we (unkindly) called "CJ's". Their nickname was derived from the animal they were stereotyped to ride in their native land. They were heavily represented in the Geological & Petroleum Engineering department. Need we speculate further?

He hasn't gone back to St. Pat's since we have been married, probably because as fraternity president he was chiefly known for his ability to consume mass quantities of alcohol and sleep standing up. HA!
Since we had children, he has tried to live an upright life, and St. Pat's is something I think he would rather leave buried in the past. LOL!

You were at Rolla when my husband was. He said Syrians and Iranians were the two largest group of non-Oriental international students at that time, although he figures there wee probably a few Saudis and Iraqis as well.

Rolla was a very strange place. Factor in Ft Leonard Wood just down the road and you basically had a comunity with a 100-1 Male/Female ratio. I learned poker, binge drinking and how to get to Stephens College up in Columbia during my time there.
Good friends of my parents owned Kenmark Sporting Goods. Without the positive influence of that family, I might have gone bersek myself! Didn't have access to anthrax, but could do lots of damage with acetylene derived from the ever-present calcium carbide from the spelunkers!

Maybe I missed it, but what was his degree in? Civil Engineering from Deccan University in India. He was first in his class in 2005-2006, IIRC, so he was given counseling, and financial aid to come to the US.
He supposedly made two B's this semester, and he went off the deep end. I am not sure if the folks back in India who helped him get his visa, and also bankroll his education would consider two b's from someone who had been first at his University back home as unacceptable, or what.
To: sockmonkey
Thanks! We've got EEs and MEs in the family. Is Civil Engineering a harder row to hoe? Hard for me to tell since I couldn't've cut the mustard in any of them :)

"Well, the article does state that he wanted to blow up the civil engineering building. I'm pretty sure the reasoning would be that he didn't like that the engineering was civil. Therefore, blow it up, it's what they do best, Un-civil engineering. ;)"
He must have been a mechanical engineer. Civil engineers build the bridges and structures. We (mechanical engineers) build the weapons to blow them up.
