Correction: My supposition is that's he's an engineering student. That's not mentioned in the article.

a man threatening "terrorist-type" actions Whew, it's a good thing these were only terrorist TYPE actions. It would be bad if they were actual terrorist actions.

Nothing on news channels, yet. I find that very surprising.

Hope it's just chalk powder or flour....still it will have caused panic for a moment. Hope everyone's OK - and the perp gets his just rewards.

From the article:
Officials declined to release the student's name or any identifying details.
I wonder why?

That kind of powder would lead to actions such as these.

Gossip will get out soon about who it is.

Rolla police chief Mark Kearse identified the student as an international student, but did not release his name. Kearse said a search of the student's room turned up a note that indicated he may have been distraught about school, and indicated he wanted to destroy the Civil Engineering building and kill himself. Hmmmm. Now why would they not release his name? Being a graduate student he's certainly of adult age, so they are not protecting a child. Hmmmmm.

Here in the west coast town I live in I've noticed twice now creepy looking Muslim-looking fellows hanging around the grocery store. Being a serious looking dude as I am, I find they quickly pick me out and peer over again and again. Twice that happened.
Yesterday I went into the grocery store and, crossing the street going in the opposite direction from the store, some bearded guy (they have both been in their twenties) looked closely at me.
After I finished shopping I walked out of the exit at the far end of the store (opposite side to where the guy was crossing the street going away from the store) and who was there at the back door leaning against a pole? The same Muslim looking guy!
You tend to dismiss such things, but with the abysmal failure that, let's face it, George Bush has presided over in the form of our Immigration Law and internal enforcement (as in there's been none of either), there must be thousands of hateful, illegal trespassers all over, no doubt setting up a series of petty and/or sniper-type attacks from coast to coast. If that guy had shot me in the back then I would have become just another of these "no connection to Islam" murder stories, just like that.
Keep your pantry full of dried goods so you don't have to go out if ever the white powder and bullets start hitting citizens due to our wide open southern border for the last 16 years.

Not identifying suspect except to say that he was an "international" student. From Norway, no doubt?

Well, the article does state that he wanted to blow up the civil engineering building. I'm pretty sure the reasoning would be that he didn't like that the engineering was civil. Therefore, blow it up, it's what they do best, Un-civil engineering. ;)

It is a good year. Ask Hubby if he is going back this year for the 99th St. Pat's day bash. Most others won't know that while this is a serious engineering school with a killer first year for most majors that really culls out the light-weights, the St. Pat's Day bash is all about national records in blood/alcohol content.
