Who is Bill O'Reilly? Is he a patriot? A blowhard? A braggart? A bully?
Well, it turns out, there's a lot more to him than any of that. Since Mike Wallace sat down with him in 2004, he has maintained his domination of cable news, competitors have tried to copy him, and four nights a week, perhaps the ultimate flattery, Steven Colbert parodies him on Comedy Central. But Wallace found the man, talking about himself, full of surprises, and he began with one.

Mike Wallace's Questions and Bill's anwers:
Pro GUN CONTROL? YES.
PRO Civil Unions? YES.
PRO GAY ADOPTION? AS A last resort. YES.
Anti Death Penalty? YES.
From his own lips I heard the serpent speak. I'll never trust this man ever again! He slams RUSH as but an "entertainer" I think it's jealousy.
But what an EGO! Screaming at AL FRANKEN to "SHUT UP" (well that's something I personally have always wanted to do, too) because he was outed as a Republican instead of an independent? Right before Franken provides written proof? That makes Bill a bufoon too.
I don't look to him as a person who will advance conservative causes, because he won't. He will do something you don't see elsewhere: he will sit down one on one with a leftie, and ask the questions I want to hear asked (at least a lot of the time). He angers all the right people, and for that I can't completely dismiss him.
I watched the 60 minutes piece last evening, and it really doesn't matter to me what O'Reilly stands for. He's beyond being a narcissistic, self absorbed (but I repeat myself), pompous freak.
Love him or hate him, I respect him for what he does for the children. That cannot be questioned.
On his show Bill always straddles the fence. I have no use for someone who won't take a stand. What he does for kids is offset by his arrogance. I quit watching him because of his inability to apologize when he is rude and wrong to someone.
That's because he's not a conservative and does not market himself as a conservative. He's a populist.
That's fine, but if he could just do an interview without stepping on the lines of his guests? In that way he's no different than the slobbering Chris Matthews.
Quite frankly, I thought Wallace made him look the shallow person he is.
I agree with Bill on all these, given certain circumstances, and I think you and the rest here on FR would also.
I don't believe felony criminals or the insane should be allowed guns. Although I personally don't condone gay life-styles, leave them have 'civil unions', as long as it isn't referred to as 'marriage'. Also, as last resort, adoption option. Lastly, I worked at a large maximum security prison. It takes average of 13+ years and millions of dollars before we get a convicted murderer strapped down. I know what happens when their sentence is for life in solitary confinement. I prefer this sentencing. One hour of exercise (standing) in a barbed wire cage per day and 2 showers a week is hell. They usually don't last long. They go completely insane and later hang-up with a bedsheet.
You forgot O'Reilly is also a poster child for "Global Warming".
I never did like this idiot.

Seems to be Michael Savage with a TV show. RATINGS!!!
:)
I can take about a half hour a week of Savage.
Glenn Beck is the guy to watch out for. I think he's bringing along a younger audience.
His supposed concern for children is nothing more than a vehicle for ratings...IMO.
He's an eccentric. Often too authoritarian for me. I like the way he recognizes that he could have power and uses it for causes he believes in. His Culture Warrior undoubtably opens the eyes of lots of people. I think he is more influenced by being a New Yorker and a Catholic than by conservatism. No way he reflects the "Give me a home where the buffalo roam" ideas of liberty. He wants order.
Is O'Reilly running for office or something?
You don't like his show, turn the freakin' channel.
Nothing like logging on to FR first thing in the morning and getting a mirror DU post. I haven't been FReeping much lately and this post is a prime example of why.
Perhaps if he said all the right hateful things and actually did nothing like Limbaugh, FReepers would like him better. I'm sure it keeps him awake at night. /s
I did that 2-3 years ago, never to watch again. Just stating my reasons why.
For a lot of these talking heads, there are things I like and things I dislike. About the one main thing I like about O'Reilly is him highlighting those in authority who let continue the abuse of children. Also, he focuses on those stories more than others.
He explained this in one of his books. He - and othes - cut off their guests because for most of them, they only have a limited amount of time. They do not control when they break, so if the guest is not answering the question, stalling, or taking too long, he steps over them. There are some guests I wish the talking heads would step over more.
There are hidden things about O'Reilly's personality that you don't see on tv. I used to listen to him on the radio a while back, and he talked a lot of SEX on the radio to his female co-hosts until he got sued for sexual harassment. He's cleaned up his act since then.
For me, there is no going back but if that is the problem, he needs to allow for more time with fewer guests - although, Ailes nor I can argue with his ratings.
Give me Brian Lamb for serious interviewing and Don Imus for seriously entertaining interviews.
BTW, I'm not talking about cutting off filibusters, I'm talking about the host listening to what is being said and not stepping on something I've been led to believe I'm about to hear. I quit watching Charlie Rose for the same reasons. I really don't care where a host stands politically, I care to hear what a guest has to say. It seems to me there are far too many people who need to hear someone they agree with - only - as a way of reinforcing their own views.
I dont recall that but sick twisted people do have a way of warping a childs mind with gifts and toys and making them think they are happy.
