Quite frankly, I thought Wallace made him look the shallow person he is.
He explained this in one of his books. He - and othes - cut off their guests because for most of them, they only have a limited amount of time. They do not control when they break, so if the guest is not answering the question, stalling, or taking too long, he steps over them. There are some guests I wish the talking heads would step over more.
