ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) - A youth sports coach in Arlington County who is also a past president of Virginia's American Civil Liberties Union chapter was arrested Friday and charged with receiving and possessing child pornography.
Charles Rust-Tierney, 51, of Arlington, made an initial appearance Friday in U.S. District Court in Alexandria and was detained pending a preliminary hearing Wednesday.
It was unclear Friday whether he had an attorney. A call to his home went unanswered.
A federal agent said in a sworn affidavit Friday that Rust-Tierney has subscribed to various child-pornography Web sites the past several years.
The affidavit states that Rust-Tierney also admitted to an agent Friday that he has downloaded videos and photos, which were found in a search of his home, from child porn sites.

As I haven't read most of the posts below, I will add a few cents.
To me, I don't believe that pornography is wrong and should be banned. I am a complete free market type of person. However, I believe that child pornography should be banned and the users jailed.
Child pornography indicates exploitation and abusing the foundations of a society used to innocence, violent child pornography indicates a very sadistic villain in the motions.
If anything this is why Bill O'Reilly is very popular and why I count on him as one of my favorite TV hosts. I agree with him on most accounts, but what he is great for is hounding the dregs of our society, the unaccountable criminals, the sex fiends from hell, the lax judges, the corruption in judicial ideas, the pedophiles, rapists, etc.
He truly is sort of a "Punisher" and I appreciate him for that. Now if more people would do stuff like him. (BTW, I usually don't watch TV but there is some entertainment and eye-opening information from a guy who is a ring-master and is able to convulute mostly intelligent, well-made politics while also turning in a very far out there Liberal into a new mink robe)
Every ACLU lawyer throughout the U.S. needs to have a serious criminal check-up from now on! I wish that the RICCO Statutes could seriously be applied upon the entire ACLU just for their support towards alleged terrorists including illegal immigrants over the last five years if not even longer!

I can definitely agree with that also. Why the hell do people even seek out child pornography anyways? Is there some sort of sensitivity class to understand someone's love for child porn, is it like a foot fetish?
Sometimes there are things that people do, that even G-d wouldn't understand. I really want to know how one can make a defense case involving child, especially violent, pornography.
Violence against children is the worst of the worst. Impale them all in the public square!
Of course we've always known just WHAT KIND of civil liberties the ACLU is interested in defending---THIS KIND.
So it's not a surprise at all that one of their important officials turns out to be someone who "partakes" of these perverse fruits. Ya gotta love O'Reilly for getting on this, though I admit I haven't seen or heard his show for a few days, and didn't know he was on the case.
And don't ever forget that the ONE group of "church folks" on whose behalf the ACLU interceded in a court case were none other than The Westboro Baptist Church, to help allow to let them get a little closer to a military funeral with their picketing and protest. There is no greater batch of losers on earth than the ACLU.

This is a laugh! My daughter is a Childrens' Librarian, and she has new stories every day of people acting irresponsibly on the internet in the Library. She patrols the computer area pretty well, and just throws out anyone she catches using porn! (This is in the CHILDRENS AREA.)

"Unfortunately" is the wrong word in this instance. This story was "deliberately" released late on a Friday so it would not receive much attention, and would be superceded by other news stories at the beginning of the next week.
It is a well-known ploy called "document dumping."
