Poll Shows Giuliani Love Across the Country (Rudy Beats All Dem Candidates by at Least 5%)
Gothamist.com ^ | 2.22.07 | Mary Ann Chastain

Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani got good and bad news from the Quinnipiac Poll.

The good news: He beats Senator Hillary Clinton, 48% to her 43% in a national poll conducted last week.

The bad news: It's still over 18 months to go until Election 2008.

Quinnipiac drilled down to the red, blue and purple state level: Giuliani beats Clinton 55-38 in states that voted Republican in the 2004 election.

Interestingly, he ties her 46-46 in the blue states, while it's close in "purple states" (where the "margin in 2004 was less than 7%) - Giuliani has 44% while Clinton has 45%. Here are some more matchups:

- Senator John McCain edges Clinton, 46 - 44 percent

- Clinton tops former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney 49 - 37 percent;

- Giuliani beats Illinois Sen. Barack Obama 47 - 40 percent;

- Giuliani tops 2004 vice presidential candidate John Edwards 48 - 40 percent;

- McCain ties Obama 43 - 43 percent;

- McCain gets 43 percent to Edward's 42 percent, a tie;

- Obama tops Romney 49 - 29 percent;

- Edwards beats Romney 48 - 32 percent.

Giuliani would win a Republican primary with 40% of Republican primary voters supporting him over McCain who would get just 18%, while Clinton would win a primary with 38% over Obama (23%). Furthermore, the Quinnipiac poll shows that Giuliani has the highest favorability rating of all candidates, with 57%, which Clinton has 46%, McCain has 51% and Obama has 44% (notably, 40% don't know enough about Obama to form an opinion.

Yesterday, Mayor Giuliani was campaigning in South Carolina. On the news last night, WNBC's Melissa Russo noted something unusual: While the crowds were very friendly to Giuliani, even reporters (from Southern papers) asked Giuliani to take pictures with him.

If there were a Republican who would do better than Rudy, we would already know his name. There is none.

I am for Rudy. I may disagree with him on some issues but I admire him as a man. I admire him so much and I believe he did such a good job cleaning up New York that I support him enthusiastically.

Chalk me up for Rudy.

A disproportionate number of those defeated were moderates, actually. In fact, the moderates got wiped out in 06.

Yes, and the polls and people that waste any time with them are stupid if they think they mean anything. I will start looking around summer of next year.

I agree at this point the polls don't mean a whole lot but by summer of next year the Republican candidate will have already been chosen if I'm not mistaken.

Ask Rudy. He never outpolled Hillary in the 2000 NYC Senate race, even though he was sitting mayor of NYC and she was a cankled carpetbagger.

Exactly, and if you read this poll carefully, he is STILL running 1% behind Hillary in the PURPLE states, close ones that we need to win like Missouri and Ohio plus light blue ones which he should put in play like Pennsylvania. This is not a formula for victory.

Freedom is about authority. Freedom is about the willingness of every single human being to cede to lawful authority a great deal of discretion about what you do and how you do it.

We don't have to accept liberal Rudy. There are other options. This fellow may be the best one:

The facts, the REAL FACTS, are not allowed to be posted about Hunter

I am waiting to hear the REAL FACTS about Duncan Hunter, who was my Congressman and a darn good one for many years. The local rag has been trying to find negative things about him for decades and have been unsuccessful so if nopardons knows stuff, I will forward it to them...they will be very happy to have some good stuff on him that will not be refuted in the next edition.

And please don't bring up his friendship with Randy Cunningham...that has been done already...Hunter is a Christian and, as corny as it may seem to you, stood by his long time friend and ally and did not know of his improprieties. Hunter goes on local radio all the time and I have heard him talk about Cunningham, and I believe Hunter..

For you and for the benefit of people who have NO idea, whatsoever, who WRONG WAY CORRIGAN was, I'll explain.

Mr. Corrigan was a pilot. He wanted to fly solo, across the Atlantic and beat Lindberg's record. Nobody was going to let him, so he filed a flight plan to someplace else, did what he wanted to do and was hailed by EVERYONE for his feat of derring do, and given that nick name.

So WHAT, exactly makes people who support Rudy or Romney or whichever other candidate on your "anti" list, worthy of being called "WRONG WAY CORRIGAN CONSERVATIVES"? It doesn't fit, nor does it make any sense at all!

Wrong way RINO's support killing babies. Wrong way RINO's support grabbing guns. Wrong way RINO's support "global warming" and the coercion of that cause. Wrong way RINO's support protecting illegal immigrants. Get it?

No matter how you twist it wrong is still wrong, and right is still right.

Abortion is still murder, homosexuals are still perverted, Illegal alians are still illegal, and gun grabbing is still controlling the people the unconstitutional way. It has nothing to do with fighting crime, just controlling people.

Promoting those who do these things is the wrong way.

So with rudy we're going to compromise 90% of our agenda in order to get 10% of it through?

Rudy supports 10% of "our agenda?" I think that number's a little high. Just what portion of the Republican platform does he have a record of supporting? I doubt it's more than 2%.

I keep seeing the argument that we have to vote for him, to keep Hitlery out of the White House. With him in the Oval Office, Hitlery will have her foot in the door, and then some. Her views will carry more weight with him than any Republican's.

No, it isn't.

You posted a reply posted b y Irish eyes, as well as one on mine and it was THAT, that I was referring to. And NO, I repeat, I am NOT anyone but nopardons here and that is the truth. You might want to travel back and take a look at your own post, before trying to tell me that I'm the one who is "lying".

he told me if I ever gave a thin dime to this web site, he'd cut up the credit cards. He's never said that to me before so I'm taking him at his word :-)

Has he been listening to Dave Ramsey again? I say that in jest, but I did listen to Ramsey, cut up the cards and have been debt free since July.

Because he set out for Long Beach and ended up in Ireland. Conservatism = Long Beach, the stated target. Liberalism=Ireland, the intended target and actual final destination. You say you want to promote conservatism so you're promoting the most liberal Republican presidential candidate ever. Corrigan planned all along to go to Ireland but had to SAY that his destination was Long Beach to get off the ground. Much the same way you all SAY you're conservatives while you're promoting a liberal on a conservative forum.
