Sick of Mexicans Taking our Jobs
Nelliemae

Posted on 02/21/2007 5:53:58 PM PST by NellieMae

I am getting really sick of the Mexican Invasion costing so many jobs in the Southwest Virginia- East Tennessee area. My husband is a brickmason. He is the 5th generation mason in his family- our son is the 6th. Up until just a couple of years ago brickmasons had contractors ringing their phones off of the wall wanting them to do work for them. My husband had to turn down dozens of callers because he couldn't do it all. Things have sure changed . Now, a lot of contractors in this area have gotten dollar signs in their eyes and all that they can see are cheap Mexican workers. My husband has actually had a contractor (real builders that know how to actually build a house are really scarce around here anymore) pull Mexicans on the job that he was working on because he was in such a hurry to get it finished that he couldn't wait the 2 weeks that it would have taken to do the whole job. They will pull in a huge crew and wipe the job out real quick. They waste a lot of brick though (they get paid by the 1000 brick). My husband is a very good, fast mason. His speed and quality is not the issue here. Most of these workers cannot even speak English. It is really aggravating to have lived in a place your entire life and have your livlihood seriously threatened by people that are not supposed to be here in the first place. How do we get rid of this problem? Also, on another related note: It was announced today that there are hundreds of jobs being cut in ANOTHER local factory, Bristol Compressors. I was told several months ago that a construction site in Mexico was marked with a sign that read:" Future site of Bristol Compressors" Is this a coincidence or is there another company by the name of Bristol Compressors?

They have no right to hire people who break our immigration laws and they are not entitled to the government loosing them so they can depress wages.

I am neither 'pro-union' nor a free traitor, there is a relationship to be had and despite the fact there are some people in the world who will do a job for 10% of what an American will do it for our social contract should keep abuses down to a minimum.

Yeah, Adobe's products have certainly made our life easier for us!

I remember when a RIPper was $100,000, now you can buy a little RIP box to stick on a Canon or Docutech and you've got what five years ago took film and a pre-press house!

See ya',

By virtue of being born a American citizen, I have "rights" that people of the rest of the world do not.
I have clean water, safe food, schools, access to good and bad jobs, police to "protect", firemen to make sure my valuable home is not burned to the ground, hospitals with emergency rooms, and the best medical in the world.

I have been blessed beyond belief simply because I was born in the USA. America welcomes legal immigrants and America is the first to lend help all over the world in a crisis. Nonetheless this invasion of illegal aliens, combined with the globalism free traders will not end well for America.

Those who advocate either policy cheapen the American birthright.

When you go to the store to buy something, do look to pay the most or the least?

I'm sure you say... please let me pay twice as much as I could buy the product elsewhere...

Like Someone, I prefer to buy all my stuff from some guy on the corner who sells some really high quality/first rate merchandise that just happened to fall off the back of a truck. Who cares if it's stolen. It's just as good as the stuff I could get at a store but it cost far less. Free-market and all that.

I'm a trader. What possible service could I purchase from them as an employer?

Nanny

Gardener
Plumber
Carpenter
Pool man
Chauffeur

Just for starters

And in your case you might hire one to serve as a conscience and sense of right and wrong

I'm a pure Capitalist! I allocate Capital for a living."

Who would be the first to cry foul if he had to try and compete with some illegal organization that could eat his lunch without having to worry about little things like " obeying the law".

So if the government granted these folks amnesty it would be okay to hire them?

... they are not entitled to the government loosing them so they can depress wages.

The "wage" is only what the employer is willing to pay for it. There is no such thing as a "guarranteed wage" unless you are a union member or a socialist.

One gets the impression that many here do not like the idea of competition and like the idea of government interference to keep that competition to a minimum.

It will be legal to hire them if all the laws are observed.

And it will be a disaster for the US if the invasion is allowed to continue to flood us with the next wave of Third World illegals.

" So if the government granted these folks amnesty it would be okay to hire them?"

Legally yes, Ethically no. When the unemployment rate for EE's keeps going up year after year the fact the government wants to import cheap labor to fill a make believe shortage is sick. One more example of lobbyist screwing up the social contract.

"The "wage" is only what the employer is willing to pay for it."

No, the wage is what the employer is willing to pay and the market of employees agrees on. I am not for fixed guaranteed wages, I'm not for a 'living wage', and I'm not for Unions pushing companies into bankruptcy. But employment is a contract! Bringing in people who put less into the system than they get out of it just so employers can have cheaper labor is plain wrong.

" One gets the impression that many here do not like the idea of competition"

Competition is great, pulling in workers for poverty levels is not.

Ironically, most of these big business types who "hate" government interference usually rely on it theirselves.

When business goes bad, they want bailouts. When a foreign country nationalizes their enterprises, they want invasions. They ask for tax breaks to place their businesses in locations.

Then, they have the gaul to tell us that we aren't free market, because we want the constitution to be obeyed in terms of border security.

Give me a break.

Wrong. There are thousands of legal and illegal residents here from all over the world. The legal residents have their green cards and, in many cases, are going through the arduous and HONEST process of achieving U.S. citizenship. The illegals from countries other than latin american will NOT be included in any form of guest worker amnesty.

The latino illegals are looking for, and will most likely obtain, a fast track to legal status --- most likely green card as they do not desire U.S. citizenship in the majority of cases --- and will jump to the front of the line ahead of honest immigrants. Not to mention that they will be rewarded for criminal behavior, which includes not only entering this country illegally but myriad other offenses such as identity theft.... which they have been doing for DECADES.

There IS a difference. And I am not the one who created the difference and the preference being given to latin american illegal migrants.

You could also look up the social security totalization agreement which is EXCLUSIVELY with mexico.

You are as eager as any liberal race pimp to cry out racism at those of us who ask for law enforcement, fairness and the integrity of national sovereignty. Before you EVER point a finger at me in that respect, let me remind you that you do not know me.

A big AMEN! Not only are we first to help, many times we are the only ones to help. Remember the Pakistan earthquake about 1-1/2-2 years ago? Some of our troops stationed in Afghanistan were deployed to help with the EQ aftermath. The troops I corresponded with were very proud of the work they did in that respect. That's just one example. We are the world's "good guy."

Nonetheless this invasion of illegal aliens, combined with the globalism free traders will not end well for America.

I pray we still have a chance if we elect the right person President, clean up Congress and the Senate.

Wrong.

Hardly. You asked what gives Congress or the president have the right to change immigration rules. I pointed out that the Constitution gives Congress the right to do so.

You've now changed the subject, and are beating the hell out of something I never said.

You are as eager as any liberal race pimp to cry out racism at those of us who ask for law enforcement, fairness and the integrity of national sovereignty.

So now I'm a liberal race pimp? My my ... what a useless and baseless accusation.

Before you EVER point a finger at me in that respect, let me remind you that you do not know me.

Based on your post, I certainly know that you're dishonest. That's enough for me.

I didn't change the subject. I responded to part two of your post; take another look.

And it's enough for all of us to see how quickly you resort to the "low blow" because you don't have any argument on YOUR side of the issue.

Anyone can see that you have no answer for valid points.

So, what exactly is your point? We should have no borders and no immigration laws? Or, are you here just to attack?

Not obvious from your reply. That's why it's always good to quote what you're responding to.

And I stand by my previous comment, too.

You are mistaken. When amnesty is pasted by Congress and signed by the President, it will include illegals from every country in the world.

We currently have social security totalization agreements with many countries. Mexico is just the next country to get it.
