In a stunning development in court, Broward County Medical Examiner Joshua Perper telephoned the court to tell the judge that the body of Anna Nicole Smith is deteriorating faster than normal, according to people who did the embalming on Saturday. As such, the body needs to be examined this week, rather than within the two weeks that had been stipulated before.
Sitting on the stand, Howard K. Stern started to sob loudly when he heard the news
Starts at 800 Eastern, according to TCM's website. :)
Not that I am an expert, but I was watching the turn of events live on TV.
To correct slightly what was reported above, the M.E. said that time was running out for the body to be presentable for an open casket presentation. He did not say that the time was running out for the body to be examined.
Everything that was to be done to the body has been done. They are simply holding a hearing to decide whether Howard K. Stern or Vergie Arthur (Anna Nicole's mother) should take possession of the body.
The judge appears to be giving Stern's attorney more latitude and preference in the court, and he appears to be purposefully shutting down the attorneys for the mother.
Does that mean that the judge will rule in favor of the mother? Maybe so.
Over and out.
I don't understand this. Where are they keeping this body? They might want to move it away from the radiator and into cold storage. I understood corpses can be kept for months if not years in near-freezing storage. I don't know about this Perper guy with the frankenstein bump on his head. There is something strange about him.
I love that movie. That, and "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" get my vote for two of the top, oh...say, twenty-five movies of all time.
I'm betting that we don't know the half of it...
If mom gets Anna's body, I sure hope she can get Anna's son's body transferred back to Texas as well.
The two belong together where-ever that might be.
Perper used to be coroner here in Pittsburgh...always reminded me of Andy Kaufmann as Latka on Taxi -- had the same kind of voice. Deebe-deebe-dah.
TCM has been showing various Oscar winners and nominees over the last few weeks...part of their 31 Days of Oscar series. I believe it runs into the first week of March. There have been a few dogs, but also, some real gems.
Even the really bad movies are better than all this Anna Nicole/Brittany Speers media coverage.
I always thought the OK Corral gunfight was handled more effectively in MY DARLING CLEMENTINE. Better buildup, and Walter Brennan made the perfect Ike Clanton.
Then of course, there's the Gunfight At The I'm OK You're OK Corral. Everybody shoots blanks.
Oh and by the way, apparently James Brown still hasn't been buried either. *snicker*
So who will be buried first, Anna or James Brown?
There goes the road-show...
So who will be buried first, Anna or James Brown?

I'll take bets. *snort*
Very worthwhile. My late father was a huge western fan....OK was one of his favorites.
Say what you want, but I find this facinating. For those of you who don't follow the lives of the saints, you might not be aware of the hundreds of our holiest people who have died, only to have never decomposed. This is back when embalming wasn't done and these bodies are still intact; they also usually smell of flowers continually. Some are for viewing in the cathedrals of Rome, but most are in private monestaries throughout the world. I find it facinating that Anna Nicole is decomposing faster than normal even with embalming. It makes one pause.
A mother and son should be together, but what makes the difference whether it is in the Bahamas or Texas? ANS's mother is a very hard and cold woman and I have no idea why she is so persistent in having the body in Texas, which would mean her grandson's grave would be alone in another country. A loving mother and grandmother would want them buried side by side. I dislike Stearn but I dislike the mother more.
