SANTA ROSA, N.M. (AP) - A Santa Rosa teenager asked the man who fatally shot her not to do so, saying she was outside his home only to use the restroom.
Thats according to a criminal complaint filed Monday in magistrate court in Guadalupe County.
Fifty-five-year-old Joseph Page is accused of fatally shooting 18-year-old Tenika Dodge and 20-year-old Yvonne Gallegos outside his home Saturday night.
According to the complaint, Page told police that he shot Gallegos with a .410-gauge shotgun through a window.
The complaint says that Page then walked outside his home and confronted Dodge, who pleaded with him not to shoot her.
According to the complaint, Page told police he shot Dodge in the abdomen and finished her off by shooting her in the head after she already had fallen to the ground.

Indeed.
You're not kidding it's a different story. Hopefully you posted this version here to show the incompetence of the AP!
Quite different. Apparently the guy does some mental deficiencies, so it will be interesting to read the results of his compentency-to-stand-trial hearing. It was very stupid of the girls to think they could break into a stranger's house to use his bathroom.
PING for update. Circumstances are entirely different than first reported and as described in the link above.
The previous thread had 300 replies; I've pinged just a few. Please ping those who might have an interest in this update.
Okay, having read both. Why did she need to break the window in order to go to the bathroom in his back yard? Do women in New Mexico just wander in to anyone's back yard to relieve themselves? (Ewww) I suspect we've not gotten the entire story yet.
If it's true that he "finished her off" by shooting her in the head after she was down, I'd hang him personally.
The previous story included the statements of the public defender. I don't blame AP for not having this information available at the time of the first article; it apparently was just released by the court.
I hope nobody tries to defend the guy's actions now that we have more of the story.
More PINGS!
Sadly, it looks as if my remark on the other thread turns out to have been correct: the guy appears to have executed Tenika Dodge, the girl who was outside. If that's the case, may he get what he deserves.
How did they get this quote? Did they hold a seance?
There were two others present who were not shot.
I saw your remark when I went to get some names from the earlier thread so I could ping for the update.
I was shocked when I heard the updated information about this shooting on the news last night. At first the girl was supposed to be inside of his house and the other one trying to come in. Now, it makes sense why he's in jail charged with two counts of first degree murder. He murdered the Dodge girl in cold blood. She was begging him not to kill her, and he he still "finished her off" by shooting her in the head. I hope they fry him!
There was a party nearby. No doubt they were drunk and stupid. But that shouldn't be a capital offense.
They only do that in NORTHERN New Mexico. It is an influence that comes from Santa Fe where the governor lives.
Much obliged. The "hearsay" rules are so illogical that I have no idea if that would be admissible in court.
There were two other people with the two who were murdered and they escaped, but from the news I heard last night, he told them about "finishing her off." I hope they hang him, but I'm sure they won't. He's known to be "mentally challenged."
And who has filed the "complaint"?
Can't put my finger on it; but something is twisted, not quite right, in this story.
