On the February 9th broadcast of Hannity & Colmes, Alan Colmes made an outrageous and poisonous statement that was not corrected on air.
Speaking to Oliver North, Colmes supported Congressman John Murtha's ugly and destructive lie that, "no question about it", Marines in Haditha had "killed innocent civilians in cold blood".
Defending the indefensible, Colmes told the viewers that there have been "confessions and convictions" in the Haditha Marine case.
Now Darryl Sharratt, the father of a Haditha Marine has a question:
"I would like to ask Alan Colmes where he got his information. There have been no convictions. There have been no confessions."
On the February 10th broadcast of Kit Jarrell's The Front Line, Mr. Sharratt stated, "Evidently, he is not doing the research to be on national television. He comes out in front of millions of people and makes this statement and it is 100% wrong."
So what now, Fox News?
If Mr. Colmes' false assertion continues to be left uncorrected, Fox News will contribute to a tainted jury pool, cause additional pain to the families, and mislead supporters and potential donors to the Haditha Marine defense funds. Through his statement, Mr. Colmes reached millions of people with the message that guilt has already been established.
Fox News and Alan Colmes must make amends...
1. Fox News owes its viewers the opportunity to hear from Darryl Sharratt or other Haditha Marine family members to set the record straight. None of the Haditha Marines have yet faced a hearing. Anything that is known about the case or the investigation has been leaked by prosecutors and politicians. The media has been complicit in this and it must stop now.
2. Alan Colmes owes the Marines and their families an apology. I suggest he make it in the form of a donation to any of the Haditha Marine Defense Funds. (For Mr. Colmes' convenience, all the information he needs about fund donations is here).
These are fair requests to make of a news channel long supported by patriots. Now it's up to Alan Colmes and Fox News.

"Colmes is one of the STRANGEST looking people I've ever seen."
I think of him as a giant version of that thing that jumps out at you when youre trimming shrubs in the back yard.
Thanks for the heads up...
Good for the father for going public with his outrage.
Darryl Sharratt reads a U. S. Marine Corp press release that details the murder charge against his son, Marine Lance Cpl. Justin Sharratt, prior to a briefing at Camp Pendleton, Calif., Thursday Dec. 21, 2006. Lance Cpl. Sharratt is charged with murder in the death of Iraqi civilians in the town of Haditha in 2005. Sharratt's mother, Theresa, and sister, Jaclyn, look on as Sharratt's father reads the charges that evolve eight Marines in all. (AP Photo/Lenny Ignelzi).
Folks, this is a freep. This is what we're here for, not to be just keyboard commandos.
Mash those links and let them all have a piece of your mind......and then let us know on this thread that you just FREEPED the Creep, Alan Colmes.
Leni
I already sent one to Brit Hume. He's the only one with any brains and influence over there. I don't want Colmes to straighten up. I want him fired.
your wish is my command redrover - emails sent and copies to those in my address book also.
He looked like this:
You're welcome and THANK YOU, Leni.
Alan Colmes made a false statement. I'm shocked...SHOCKED!
That is the Colmes technique, and indeed one practiced by the liberal neofacists. It's called the "Big Lie".
Many thanks, Chickenhawk! Great working with you!
I agree. Whenever I see Hannity and Colmes together, all I can think of is "Beauty and the Beast". Colmes wouldn't be so "beastly" if his politics wasn't so gross.
Just sent an e-mail.
Sent mine to Ollie, Roger Ailes and O'Reilly. Colmes is a waste of time.
Freeped!!!
Sent, thanks for the links.
Here's the pertinent part of the segment:
HANNITY: You know, we've had instance after instance, Colonel, John Murtha. Our troops are, you know, cold blooded killers. And John Kerry, terrorizing the women and children in the dark of night in Iraq. You have this new controversy over the NBC guy, William Arkin. What are your thoughts?
NORTH: Well, sadly, NBC hasn't repudiated those comments. I worked for NBC. I'm very pleased with the fact that I had three years on that network before I came to FOX. I've tried hard never to say anything bad about them.
But I'm disappointed that Arkin's comments have not been repudiated by the management. He's basically in the same league as Richard "Dick" Durbin who likened American's troops to those who served Stalin and Hitler and Cambodia's murderous Pol Pot. Same league with people like Murtha, who accused Marines of cold blooded murder and, of course, you mentioned John Kerry.
HANNITY: Yes.
NORTH: The shame of it is that Mr. Arkin doesn't know what he's talking about. I lived with these guys. We'd go out there, and we spent months with these guys. Eight trips to Iraq now, literally, as long in Iraq as I've been in the war in Vietnam.
And you see these young patriots and what they're really like, the young American warriors who volunteered to serve their country. That's what we do in tour trips to Iraq. It's too bad Mr. Arkin hasn't seen them that way.
HANNITY: Why is it that we're getting one attack after another? Colonel, we spent the entire week in the United States Senate. These brave men that you describe, and they are heroes, and they believe in the mission.
And the idea that we have the United States Senate literally debating this week, the idea that they're going to come up with a nonbinding, meaningless resolution. I call it the Embolden our Enemies Act. The Congress is going to do it next week. That basically says, the mission can't succeed.
I'm stunned that this is the -- and then they say they support the troops. That's not supporting the troops.
NORTH: You know, Sean, what we've had is this is the first war America has ever fought in which we get our news from the enemy. And awful lot of the footage that the American people have been treated to ever since Baghdad was liberated is footage shot by people from al Jazeera, Al Arabiya, Egypt TV, Lebanon TV.
In other words, reporters who stand on balconies and report from inside the Green Zone and who put that up as news. It's basically coverage that was obtained from people traveling with our enemies. Never happened before.
COLMES: Hey, Ollie, it's Alan.
First of all, Murtha turned out to have correct information. Dick Durbin was talking about treatment at Gitmo specifically, not all the soldiers.
NORTH: Alan, let's deal with these one at a time before...
COLMES: Sure. We don't have a lot of time but let's deal with them.
NORTH: There's no proof of what Mr. Murtha said, because those trials have not taken place yet. And you believe, as I do...
COLMES: Well, there have been confessions.
NORTH: ... innocent until proven guilty.
COLMES: There have been convictions and confessions.
Secondly, Dick Durbin was talking about Gitmo, and Arkin was writing to the Washington Post when he said the things he's saying, not NBC, where he's also a contributor.
He was talking about the fact that, in spite of Gitmo, in spite of some of these allegations, the American people still do support the troops. That's what Arkin said.
NORTH: I'll invite any of those guys, any of the ones that just named, to come with me back to al Anbar where American soldiers, Marines, sailors, are training and equipping Iraqis and fighting side by side with them and winning a war that they say can't be won. And I'll tell you they are wrong........
