Switching metaphors...
A good parasite never kills its host.
AMEN! That's why advertisers of all kinds of products target teens! More bang for their advertising buck.
I know how messy a free society is. I did my taxes today. My fellow citizens can raise my taxes just as they raise cigarette taxes and dictate where you can smoke.
I smoked for 20+ years. Quitting is a small victory. Hopefully, I can add a few years back on to the 10 to 15 years I am suppose to lose.
How profoundly ignorant you are.
Hopefully, I can add a few years back on to the 10 to 15 years I am suppose to lose.
Your personal goals in life are hardly a sound basis for taxation or public policy by any responsible, adult standard.
You better take some time off from the smoking threads and brush up on current events. There are forces out there that want to raise your taxes, dictate your medical care, and charge you $10 a pack for smokes. Again, I am not one of them..
Good evening..
And I have smoked for 40 some years. I don't drink and I am not fat........since I lost my hubby I have to have SOME comfort in this life. (Over eating isn't good for anyone either, so what's you point? And excessive drinking will kill the liver!)
And why do you care anyway??!!!
$140 million a year???? And save lives!!!! LOL To funny!!!!
Read how much Maine smokers are contributing to the states economy and this is BEFORE the last tax increase!!!

Oh yes. Better believe it! (Also, there are MANY smokers rights groups all across the United States. So it's not just me that is so "passionate!!!!")
Can't stand the high taxes?
Afraid to order off of the Internet?
Then start rolling your own!!! I find everything but the machine downtown at the local Smoke Shop. Also, Rite Aid and grocery stores also sell the bags of tobacco and the filtered tubes.
I roll out a beautiful carton for a little under $8 dollars. Premiums in my state are now up to $45-$50 a carton. Can you imagine the money I have saved over the past 4 years since I now roll my own? It's mind boggling.
under $50.00
Check StuffYourOwn for prices on tobacco
$1.99 for 200 filtered tubes
Make your own cigarettes for as low as $6.99 per Carton! Smoke Quality FILTERED cigarettes that you make yourself using cigarette tubes (like a cigarette without the Cigarette tobacco), our cigarette making machines, and our "roll your own" cigarette tobacco.
-Stop Paying High Cigarette Taxes
-So Much Easier than "Roll Your Own" cigarettes!

You act like I am the only one in here that is sticking up for smoker's rights!
Get a grip and pick on someone else, how about it?!
This is a huge increase. What happened to revenues as a result of this increase. That's the question. Iowa is only going to raise it $1.00. Have there been tax increases put on the general population because projected revenues did not materialize?
Yes, the notion that a birth certificate carries an expiration date and the only goal in life is meeting or exceeding that date is confounding to me.
It's as if life were some sort of term paper to be completed according to schedule - and then what?
The goal of dying in perfect health has been met?
Oh yessssssss
Me too!!!
<----fumes
Our lives are in the Lord's Hands. It's up to HIM when we die! And it won't matter one iota if we ever smoked or not!!!
She sure has it in for me, Madame Dufarge. If you notice, I am the only one she comes after!
ahhhhhhhhhh BABY!!!! NOW I get it! You are in LOVE with MADAME! LOL
Try googling smoking death statistics.
Once again...........why do you care? You sure aren't paying for our heath insurance!!
And why do you care?????
Failed? FAILED? Things get better and better for the non smokers and worse and worse for the smokers. Who is failing here?
And why do you care?????
