A Feb. 9 front-page article about the Pentagon inspector general's report regarding the office of former undersecretary of defense Douglas J. Feith incorrectly attributed quotations to that report. References to Feith's office producing "reporting of dubious quality or reliability" and that the office "was predisposed to finding a significant relationship between Iraq and al Qaeda" were from a report issued by Sen. Carl Levin (D-Mich.) in Oct. 2004. Similarly, the quotes stating that Feith's office drew on "both reliable and unreliable reporting" to produce a link between al-Qaeda and Iraq "that was much stronger than that assessed by the IC [Intelligence Community] and more in accord with the policy views of senior officials in the Administration" were also from Levin's report. The article also stated that the intelligence provided by Feith's office supported the political views of senior administration officials, a conclusion that the inspector general's report did not draw. The two reports employ similar language to characterize the activities of Feith's office: Levin's report refers to an "alternative intelligence assessment process" developed in that office, while the inspector general's report states that the office "developed, produced, and then disseminated alternative intelligence assessments on the Iraq and al Qaida relationship, which included some conclusions that were inconsistent with the consensus of the Intelligence Community, to senior decision-makers." The inspector general's report further states that Feith's briefing to the White House in 2002 "undercuts the Intelligence Community" and "did draw conclusions that were not fully supported by the available intelligence."
Almost all the truly damning quotes came from the office of Democratic Sen. Carl Levin, not the DOD inspector general.

or "the excremental Carl Levin"......
I was wrong I do not believe that it was a mistake. They did it undercover of the bogus Wash Post article. Fox has now jumped on the bandwagon I see.
Good one. The opposite of "incremental".
-`Rat Levin is a despicable loathsome toad.
How in the world does this guy get re-elected
over and over ! ? --
That is amazing, how can such a "clean" individual appeal to the dims? There are no known drowned campaign workers or Abscam investigations in his resume'...
Have we ever seen the MSM have to retract anything favoring the conservative perspective? I can't recall any.
An analysis of MSM retractions and admitted errors might lend itself to a quantitative analysis measuring the degree of bias.

There is more statistical proof that the media are leftward-biased, than there is about anthropogenic
"glo-bull-warming".
Same reason Kennedy and Kerry get elected. People form Michigan and Massachusetts are STUPID!
WaPo Exclusive: Pentagon Inspector General's Report States Conclusively That Bush Admin Official Cooked Pre-War Intelligence!!!
Oh, Minor Correction: It Was A Report From Anti-War Democrat Carl Levin Which "Concluded" That. Whoops, Our Bad.
Long headline, but for one of the most egregious "twisted intelligence" debacles of all time.

They are not dead and most TV news reports are taken from AP and WaPO stories. Expect the entire country to know about the original story and no one to know about the correction.

And not ONE of these "duped" "journalists" will be pissed at Levin for making them look STUPID.
Thats probably because they weren't duped; they knew what they were doing and are probably surprised that their "news" paper actually issued a correction. They typically don't bother -- they just lie -- its what they do. But the WAPO is taking a lot of flack about that guy (Akin/arkin?) who called our troops mercenaries, and I would HOPE they are finally waking up and smelling the coffee. The "news" of today is not "news" it is just DNC crap, as was evidenced by the original report.
No, the "duped" so-called "journalists are Walter Pincus and R. Jeffrey Smith, who are notorious for their liberal bias and overall incompetence. Sounds like Pincus and/or Smith simply took dictation from Sen. Carl Levin and then got mixed up about which quotations were from Levin and which from the Acting IG's report.
This is a level of mendacious incompetence that should NEVER occur in a student newspaper, let alone the august, self-important WaPo.
The WaPo "correction" will never get the same attention or genuinely correct the misinformation that has now been spewed into the public arena.
This is why any correction of this magnitude should require a NEW front page story PLUS an editorial press conference to call attention to this staggering, biased incompetence. Even then, the MSM and the Demagogues would continue on with their Levin-supplied talking points, but at least there'd be an honest attempt to right the grave wrong performed here by Pincus, Smith, Levin, and the WaPo's worthless editors.
Re Carl Levin. He came out of a communist-dominated Detroit City Council in the 1970's. Before that, he was a normal Democrat with a good record of public service. He was the head of the Detroit City Council in 1975 when they hosted a KGB-led World Peace Council delegation.
Other DCC members with longtime CPUSA fronts and World Peace Council records were Erma Henderson, Maryann Mahaffey, and one man whose name escapes me right now. (Possibly Bullock).
These people had their photo taken with the WPC delegation, and Carl Levin is right next to Soviet agent of influence, Indian Communist Party leader Romesh Chandra, the president of the WPC.
I have this photo on my computer but I do not know how to post/paste it here. Someone sent me instructions but I need them in English. Do I copy the photo and COPY it to this posting box, or do I have to do something else?
Yet, it was the Democratic Truman administration that was responsible for imposing full censorship on war correspondents during the Korean War [on January 9, 1951]
What does it really matter, until President Bush and Tony Snow start hammering this home and demanding equal time against the lying communist? I am tired.
