Right To Life Bill Offered By Rep. Duncan Hunter February 8, 2007 – On January 22, 2007 California Rep. Duncan Hunter introduced a bill to protect the right to life of unborn children. In a press release, he noted:

“Our greatest obligation as elected leaders is to protect the American people, especially those who are incapable of protecting themselves," said Congressman Hunter. Our children, whether born or unborn, deserve the opportunity to grow and live in a society that values and respects life.

“On this anniversary of the Roe v Wade decision, it is important that we reflect on the 38 million abortions that have been performed in this country since the practice was legalized in 1973. This is a national tragedy that must not go unnoticed.

“This legislation ensures that the unborn are protected from abortion and further provided the same Constitutional protections provided to all Americans. I am proud to once again introduce this important piece of legislation and I hope my colleagues will join me in support of this effort as they have in the previous Congress.”

It is stuff like this that gives me a good feeling about Hunter. He is out doing conservative things, pushing conservative ideas. He is not defending a liberal record and explaining why he had liberal views x and y last year but has since changed his mind.

A BILL

To implement equal protection under the 14th article of amendment to the Constitution for the right to life of each born and preborn human person.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the `Right to Life Act'.

SEC. 2. RIGHT TO LIFE.

To implement equal protection for the right to life of each born and preborn human person, and pursuant to the duty and authority of the Congress, including Congress' power under article I, section 8, to make necessary and proper laws, and Congress' power under section 5 of the 14th article of amendment to the Constitution of the United States, the Congress hereby declares that the right to life guaranteed by the Constitution is vested in each human being.

SEC. 3. DEFINITIONS.

For purposes of this Act:

(1) HUMAN PERSON; HUMAN BEING- The terms `human person' and `human being' include each and every member of the species homo sapiens at all stages of life, including, but not limited to, the moment of fertilization, cloning, or other moment at which an individual member of the human species comes into being.

(2) STATE- The term `State' used in the 14th article of amendment to the Constitution of the United States and other applicable provisions of the Constitution includes the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and each other territory or possession of the United States.

So far the only negative thing I've heard people say about Hunter is that he has no name recognition. I'm doing my part to change that. I've forwarded his website www.gohunter08.com to everyone on my email list & I've gotten several positive feedbacks back, plus they're forwarding it on to their friends.

When people hear about him - they like him.
