Rudy Giuliani will prevent a conservative crack-up.
Today, after very little effort, Giuliani is the frontrunner for the Republican nomination. Dick Morris is predicting a Giuliani vs. Clinton race in 2008. Yet some conservatives are dubious of the man who cleaned up New York, returned it to a vigor unimaginable from the 1960s through the 1980s, and then led New York and the country heroically through 9/11. Well, one knows a politician by the company he keeps, and Giuliani has around him the financial people who created the libertarian-conservative Manhattan Institute. He relied heavily on the Institute's policies while governing New York. He will rely on libertarian-conservative policy makers in his race for the White House and once there.

Please add me to the Rudy list!
Thanks...
On Fox Roundtable last nite....
BARNES: The truth is, I think he has an excellent chance of winning the nomination. I wouldn't make him the frontrunner right now, I think the McCain still is. But people like him. There's a reason why his polls have stood up so well, it's not because voters are stupid and don't know about his social liberalism, which is there. But he's not running on it. He's running on these other things and he's not trying to stick his views on abortion and gay civil unions and so on down the throats of conservative voters who don't want that.
He's running on low taxes and what he did in New York. I think there are two striking things about Rudy -- Rudy Giuliani that no other candidate can match -- one, it's the whole 9/11 thing, where he was in a crisis and we saw how he performed. He performed extremely well. And secondly, it's New York City when he was mayor. You know, you can go to New York City and feel and see the difference that he made in that city as mayor. And I don't think you can say that about any mayor in any other city in the country.
HUME: And maybe not about many governors.
After him, my preference would be Hunter, but obviously no one really knows yet if he can take the nomination.
I like Rudy, but am so VERY wary of some of his stances.
IF it came down to Hitlery vs. Rudy, of course I'd vote Rudy.
And I do think Rudy could grab far more moderates than any other candidate. But would we lose just as many Republican votes at the other end of the spectrum?
I just don't know. Guess we'll find out.
Gosh, I love it when you go off like that. Just puts chills up my spine.:)
Excellent editorial...thanks for the post. Please add me to your list.
If there is another illegals march in the country and the voters learn about Mr. Law and Order fighting in court to keep NYC a sancuary city. I think there will be a flushing sound heard from coast to coast. Throw in the notorious frivilous lawsuit he filed against the firearms manufacturers for good measure also. Much can happen in the next year.
I don't want votes from Dearborn Michigan slanting our foreign policy, because they turn out to be the deciding votes that push Hillary into the Presidency, and the Dems turn around and reward those votes by abandoning Israel.
I believe that the important person in the future of the conservative may well be who gets the GOP vice presidential nod...
Polls this far off have no meaning. They are purely name recognition.
Dean was leading Kerry in NH 40-12 a month before the primary.
A51 posted the PA poll this morning. He's leading.
And I gotta tell you ... Rudy supporters are coming out of everywhere.
Wait til Hillary finds out. LOL!
I'm racking that up to the Dean Scream.
You are on it! Welcome!
I saw you got him before my note.
I'm ready for Rudy to run as pro-gay, pro-abortion, pro-illegal, pro-gun control (but otherwise okay - pro-war and reform guberment) DEMOCRAT!
Please, oh, please, don't let Rudy win the Primary.
That's okay I appreciate what you did! Thanks again! :-)
Sign me up for the ping!!! I'm so excited, I've already sent him money! I haven't been this hopeful for the future of the Country for a very long time.
You are correct:

If you really don't see any difference between Hillary Clinton and Rudy Giuliani, you need to open your eyes.
