Border Agent's Death Would Spark Impeachment Talks, Republican Says
CNS NEWS ^ | February 07, 2007 | Kevin Mooney and Fred Lucas

(CNSNews.com) - Weeks after accusing President Bush of "shameful" behavior over the imprisonment of two Border Patrol agents who shot an unarmed suspected drug smuggler along the U.S.-Mexico border, a federal lawmaker turned up the heat further Wednesday, suggesting the president should be impeached if either of the two men is murdered in prison.

The man shows up with wounds inconsistent with the ammunition fired at him.

Important factual ballistics information conveniently "overlooked" by the Border Patrol Bashers on Free Republic.

You only get RR once in a century or so. There was Washington and Lincoln for the 18th and 19th and Reagan for the 20th. All of them showed up in the 2nd half. The key trait seems to be perceptivity, the ability to see the true situation which seems to be very rare in political actors, coupled with the ability to see how to Get It Done and to then actually Get It Done.

There are too many questions with respect to jury intimidation, false statements by the prosecution, the absence of ballistic evidence tying the officer's firearm to the wound received by the fleeing drug smuggler, and the possibly poor legal counsel the Border Patrol agents received (their attorney told them not to seek publicity even after conviction, a poor strategy in light of the success of the Duke lacrosse players' success in a highly charged, political trial).

1. The former agents are free to obtain new legal counsel for their appeals.

2. If any of these allegations are true, then their counsel will pursue them through the proper venue, which is the appeals court.

3. Too many of these phony causes have come and gone through the years. They get flogged on talk radio and internet blogs until everything possible is wrung from them. Then the sharks, radio jocks, politicians and blogs move on to the next story, leaving increased distrust and political hatreds in their wake.

4. For me, the more people push this case without letting the judicial process work, I think the men are guilty and those flogging the case are doing it for their own agendas: money through donations, increased ratings for their radio shows, raising name recognition, etc.

Do you know that eleven months after the trial the transcripts have not been released -- yet -- and they cannot even start to file appeals without transcripts.

American culture has been in the process of being systematically debased for the past 40 years.

You can't throw the baby out with the bath water. Not by all Americans. Some are struggling to uphold a country that was handed to us by our fathers.

I don't buy hip hop trash, or go see leftist movies by michale moore types.

America has been Balkanized and fractured, with sublimation of past heritage. This was not always so, but it is now.

This country isn't broken beyond repair...not yet. Many are working on dragging it through the dirt, I most certainly agree. But, they aren't the be all end all of Americans. The silent majority is in some type of lethargic mode. What the lynch pin will be to shake them out of their lethargy I don't know, but, it will come.

Tell me what the current ( within the past ten years ) glories of the theatre, ballet, music, art, books, movies, T.V. and POP CULTURE have been, as opposed to the vast flowering of these things in the previous century; excluding those things that aren't applicable.

Those hold no interest for me, save books. I'm forced to read novels from yesteryear. I read on a site once talking about this very subject. It asked if an immigrant will come to our shores and see America with fresh eyes and write about it.

was sent to Europe, to prove to Europeans that America actually HAD a worthy culture.

Looking for scraps from the table of Europe even then. Pfft. Europes lost today, their culture is being breed out and driven out. Maybe we should send a deligation there to see if they have a culture.

It is NOT actually an Islamic thing, as not all Muslims engage in the practice.

mohammad(piss be upon him) never forbade female mutilation.

Sheikh Gad al-Haq, said that since the Prophet did not ban female circumcision, it was permissible and, at the very least, could not be banned.[41]

It goes on in Iraq, it's quiet common. Muslims do commit female mutilation.

"Wow those Evil Corporations.. I love it how so called conservatives speak out against capitalism.."

Conservatives have never embraced trans-national corporations. It's not 'capitalism,' it's serfdom for the middle class; the heart of conservatism. Capitalism is a name conjured up by Karl Marx; our system is free enterprise, not Marx's capitalism.

Amen. I'm really sick of that effect. And I'm talking about you Laura Ingraham and Rush Limbaugh!

Wrong on both accounts!

First of all, I hate, loathe, and abominate all of the Clintons; always have.

Secondly and more importantly, Clinton had the entire D.C. unit fired; NOT anyone out in the country. The jobs that he meddled with, are considered to be APOLITICAL and no other president, in the history of this nation, has ever done such a mass firing.

And no, President Bush can no more fire the prosecutor who handled the border guards' case than YOU can. Get over it, for crying out loud.

They deserve a pardon

Why? Because you have been convinced by those working overtime to convince you that there has been a miscarriage of justice? Perhaps there has been. I'm not in any position to know, and neither are you. You are reacting to what you hear and read, but neither you nor I were in the courtroom. We didn't hear the evidence, and we don't know why the jury decided to convict.

Ya know, I was born and raised in CA. I grew up on 20 acres of grapes that were made into Sunmaid raisins. Illegals? H*ll, I played with them as a child when they came to pick those grapes. I watched as Cesar Chavez scared them into joining his bogus "union" by threatening to rape their children. I saw the fear in their eyes. I seriously doubt you know more about illegals or the problems than I do. I can actually look at it from more than one side. And yes, they were bothered by authorities back then because they used to mistake my dad's red El Camino for one of those invisible authorities and yell out, "La Migre"

You are delusional for blaming Bush for the 40 year in the making border problem
Show me where I said that? I blame him for not securing our borders after 9-11, while claiming homeland security is a top priority. Don't make things up and claim I said it.

If you really believe the judicial process is impartial and fair, let me introduce you to a few impartial, fair prosecutors: Mike Nifong, Ronnie Earle, and Patrick Fitzgerald. If you believe these individuals are impartial and fair, I have a deal on a historic bridge connecting Manhattan and Brooklyn I would like to interest you in.

Dana Rohrbacher may have been over the top, but placing Border Patrol agents in with the general prison population where over one-quarter of the prisoners are illegal aliens smells too much like certain people in power want them to suffer the same fate Jim McDougal did. They are presumably healthier and stronger than McDougal, so inducing a heart attack would not work. Having them fall victim to murder while in prison at the hands of angry illegals would be more plausible.

What I'm not going to do is Blame Bush for the whole fiasco, which most here seem to have done, erroneously, I will add.

Too bad cool heads and reasonable people are in such short supply as regards politicsl these days. The country could use more people like you.

did these guys shoot people, yes or no?

I believe that even this has been brought into question. They shot at people. Sometime later, a man with wounds claimed that he was shot by the agents.

The crooked sheriff of my county* got caught with a stolen machine gun and neither the Feds or the state filed charges.

All decisions made by the US Attorneys are political ones.

Google: "Tidwell sheriff stolen guns", for further details.

"AG and POTUS are getting payola and/or gilt-edged promises from someone in Mexico" would be the worst-case perspective, but I've recently fronted another -- much more favorable -- possibility:

This looks FUBAR because the Feds are working to keep something from being jeopardized; like a brewing sting operation against certain buddy-buddy BP agents, officials, and drug runners.

Not a certainty, mind you, but it would explain why the Bush Administration's treatment of Ramos and Compean seems so weird; the two agents are being kept on ice as a form of window dressing so that the real targets of the sting don't get spooked into standing down their illegal activities.
