30 percent.
I'm a 60's/early 70's (pre-disco) guy. Disco nearly spelled the end of Western music as we know it.

All I remember about 80s music was we were stuck in a GP medium in a backwater hole of a place on time.
The only radio station we could get had a fixation with The Bangles and they played "Slow Boat to China" about 4 time an hour it seemed like. After a month of that it was like fingernails on a blackboard.
Never heard that song since.

Culturally I was out of touch with most of the 80s, since by then my focus shifted toward religion.
Just as well, anyway. By then MTV was on the horizon -- and IMHO that killed much of pop music.

For me that's not bad since I was 24 to 34 during that decade.
Just not into music, never was.

Aw, come on. This wasn't music. What about Stevie Ray Vaughn, Joe Ely, Warren Zevon, etc? That was the 80s.

------------------------------------------------------------ Sheer luck I got any right...I was into the Oldies at that time(after having been run off of Country by the likes of Kenny Rodgers).

I was in college in the 80s, and I know a heck of a lot more about 80s rock than any other decade, and I only got 25%. I guess that is about 25% more than I would get if you asked me questions about today's music.
To: Mrs.Nooseman
Okay, I'm officially embarassed. I guess I wasn't paying as much attention as I thought I was. That said, some of this stuff I wouldn't have had any way of knowing. (And some of it I probably proudly knew back then!)

The scariest thought, of course, is that I nailed the Duran Duran question.

I have to see if I see have it in a zip file somewhere, but about 10 years ago, I had this list of 222 lines from 80 song lyrics where no two were from the same exact artist. (In other words, Phil Collins, for example, managed to appear on the list, I think, 4 times, in one way or another.)
I knew a little over half of them then (probably fewer now).

Most of the music I bought in the 80's was on the ECM label.
(mostly jazz, but other kinds of music as well).

I'm not that good with dates. However, it's cool that one of my favorite artists of all time is in the photo!
