Somebody needs to tap Gingrich on the shoulder and tell him that is is close second or third place in polls, 16%, despite never making any movements towards the White House or having even raised a single dollar. And that he's probably the only potential conservative candidate who can save this party from nominating the likes of John McCain or Rudy Giuliani. Go for it already Newt!

I doubt he needs to be told, I'm sure he's been doing his own polling. Unfortunately his negatives are as high as Hillarys. I think waiting till after labor day makes sense. That's five months less we'll have to read daily commentary on Newt's marital problems. Here's hoping he gets in, I think he's got the best political sense of any of the candidates.

I was wondering if any of the Rudy supporters could answer how Rudy is different that a Democrat like Joe Lieberman? Both are socially liberal, in favor of gun control & affirmative action, and both are strong on defense and crime. What's the difference besides the party designation?

Rudy is doing a campaign appearance today on long island for a state senator (an ardent pro-life woman by the way). Spitzer is trying to take her down in a special election, its a tough district to win (majority Dem, Spitzer appointed the republican who held the seat to an executive position in attempt to reclaim the senate seat). The Dems are running alot of ads targetting her opposition to stem cell research.

"I wonder how long it will take the Klinton war machine to start up and totally distroy Rudy???? "

He will be destroyed by many. You can bet your chickens on that. Rudy has more Baggage than any candidate on both sides. Just wait. I hope he is taken down hard a fast in the next few months.

"early for him to be talking about this (the 2008 election) on his show all the time let alone endorsing anyone"

True enough.

Guiliani/Biden 2008...a winning ticket!!!!

For the Dubya' disenfranchised it could be considered a winner politically.

For our sovereignty as a nation?

I don't think so.

Hello friend,

I have heard that Guiliani is an admirer of Scalia, Thomas and Roberts. I do not know how he squares that with a belief in gay marriage. Perhaps he believes the 'marriage' matter should be left to the voters? I don't know friend.

And McCain(e) the turncoat backstabber would be a huge gamble.

Nobody wants McCain except McCain.

And you'll have dozens of third parties to choose from. The Democratic nominee thanks you.

The Rockefeller Republicans are fixing to be the Cheese that stands alone in upcoming elections. They want the GOP for themselves to run their beloved LIBERALS at any cost? Fine by me they can have it. They took over control of the GOP in late 1995 and it's been a down hill slide to RINO LAND ever since. It's all theirs. They have made it the other half of the Democratic Party anyway in the past 18 or so years.

This times it's lets just give up and run a Liberal from day one. I got news for Rudi fans. Hillary Clinton will defeat him hands down. She will run to the right of Rudi on issues just like her hubby did Poppy and Dole. Rudi in 2008 is the quickest way to make certain Hillary is POTUS. Rudi can not beat Hillary. He does not have the Conservative nor Independent support to do it.

"I think it's a done thing, and the best we can hope for at this point is deportation of criminals, prosecution of employers and defence of the border, because amnesty won't solve any of those problems, they'll keep coming. Solely in the context of that issue, which is a law enforcement issue, I don't see Rudy at a disadvantage."

Rudy wasn't big on enforcing all the laws. Under Rudy as Mayor New York was an illegal sanctuary city.
He continued a policy of preventing city employees from contacting INS about immigration violations. He actually sued the Federal government to support his lax (non-existent) enforcement of immigration laws and ordered city attorneys to defend this policy in federal court. He has also expressed doubt that the federal government can stop illegal immigration. He might have been great at getting the panhandlers and hot dog vendor's off the street, but when it came to enforcing tough laws, he was more a conciliator than an enforcer. There is no reason to believe he would be any tougher at enforcing immigration laws as President. As far as the invasion of our Country by illegal aliens, Rudy would be a disaster.
