Excerpt -

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Two key members of radical anti-American Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr's political and military organization were gunned down just days before the U.S. and Iraqi forces planned to open a massive security drive in Baghdad.

Ali Khazim, who ran al-Sadr's political organization in volatile Diyala province northeast of Baghdad, was killed Sunday by U.S. forces at his home in Howaider village, 12 miles east of Baqouba, Saleh al-Ageili, a spokesman for the Sadr Movement's parliamentary bloc, said on Monday. Provincial police confirmed al-Ageili's account.

"What has happened to Khazim is part of the series of provocative acts by the occupation forces against the Sadr movement. The occupation forces know well who are the terrorists and their whereabouts, yet they are targeting our people," al-Ageili told The Associated Press.

Now capture (or kill if necessary) Mr. Sadr himself.

"...were gunned down..."

This is how you shift the debate without being noticed. All of you take note how easily the al-AP inserts the thought that these men were unfairly murdered, rather than being killed in firefights.

Then again, you all probably are simply sick of what al-AP does and can't be bothered to once again notice it.

That being said, can we perhaps find reliable sources to quote here in FR?

Thanks.

Good. Now go get that snaggle-tooth SOB. Bury him with his little defiant finger pointing right to hell so that there's no doubt where he's going.

That's not necessarily the case. Being gunned down is distinctly different than being killed in a firefight. One of these men was killed in a drive by shooting. That's not a firefight. That's being gunned down, regardless of whether or not you had it coming.

That would be true if you take the word of regional police, who may themselves be either Sunni or Shi-ite and thus have an agenda. Notice that US authorities are NOT cited. That makes this one-sided and likely propaganda for the other side.

I'm not buying this until the whole story comes out, if ever. I think these men were killed in war and that the story is slanted to date against my country. Hence, I am at best skeptical, especially given the reporting outlet, not to mention the 'sources'.
