Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy chatted with one of the Democratic Party's brightest stars last week when he met Illinois Sen. Barack Obama during a mayors summit in Washington, D.C., that called for tougher federal gun control laws.

"Meeting with Sen. Obama, and later with our local senators, Robert Menendez and Frank Lautenberg . gave me a unique opportunity to emphasize how the federal government does play a role in fighting this problem, the violence that erupts on our streets due to the other illegal destruction of firearms," Healy said.

What part of "gun controls do not work on criminals" do these moron liberal socialists not understand? Criminals do not obey laws or restrictions. Hello?? More laws -- more government control over your rights as a law abiding citizen -- THAT is what these liberals want. They could care less about crime. Disarming the American public is a high priority for socialists.

If we ban Rappers lyrics and insist on a curfew in the rough areas...way less problems.

What they need is "CRIMINAL CONTROL" not gun control.
Gun control is holding a nice group.
Criminal Control is fighting crime.
crime=criminal.
What part of this don't these guy's get?

Seems like Mayor Healy has a compelling interest in keeping silly issues like this in the news. The greatest threat that people face in his city these days is actually drunk drivers, including a Jersey City police officer -- HIS OWN COUSIN -- who is facing aggraved manslaughter charges for an incident that occurred on the Pulaski Skyway last week.

Need gun control to keep the citizens from fighting back when the lefties begins to take things away from them "for the common good".

The people need guns to protect themselves from Mayor Healy when he gets into a drunken rage.

No need to tell Obama this, He is alrady a hugh supporter of gun control. He does not respect the Constitution. He would be worse than Hilliary.

Just to be sure it works, why not field test the idea in an area where it would be safe to experiment and one that provides a chance to view the results from the security of a remote distance? Say, Iraq, for example? Yeah, ban firearms in Iraq, then apply the same formula to New Jersey. That'll work. Plus, it'll give liberals a good reason to stay in country if they can say they're not interfering in a civil war, they're making the streets safe for ordinary citizens, and getting guns out of the hands of lawbreakers.

Sad but true. As both a Jersey City resident and an Irishman, I'm ashamed of my mayor.

My grandfather used to tell me stories of how the old Hague machine used to hire local gangs to, uh, "remind" Dem district leaders and community activists to vote for the chosen candidates.

He was excited about Tom Gangemi (JCs first Italian mayor), but he turned out to be a tool like the rest of them.

BTW: Healy is often seen at the bar at Casa Dante on Journal Square.

Every Irish mayor of Jersey City that I can remember has been corrupt to the bone. Remember Jerry McCann, the mayor from the 1980s who went to jail? There were rare reprieves from the corruption and leftist politics, with people like Republican Bret Schundler.

They deliberately want to turn mainstream America into the same type defenseless shooting galleries they run.

They are idiots, imbeciles, and Marxists.
