New York, NY (AHN) - Former Mayor of New York Rudy Giuliani may have ran the Big Apple as a Republican, but in his official papers as part of his possible presidential run, the section for the candidate's political party was left blank.
When confronted about the omission by a newspaper, a lawyer for the campaign says it was the team's "judgment that we didn't have to fill in that box," leading some to speculate that Giuliani may be considering leaving the GOP and running as an Independent.
Giuliani spokeswoman Katie Levinson dismisses such rumors, saying, "The mayor continues to be a proud member of the Republican Party, and we are extremely encouraged by the response from Republicans across the country to his potential run for president."
Also, upon further questioning by newspaper Newsday, the campaign says it fixed the omission, and has listed the former Mayor as a Republican.
However, according to the paper, that form couldn't be found on the Federal Election Commission Web site.
You are delusional.
Perhaps we deserve a President who is more attuned to our attention spans.
Nice platitude, friend, but we have to be practical here.
Practical? For whom? Pay for your own programs and stop using the government to steal from your betters...
You have my vote on that.
I don't blame him .. the way some of these old repubs have been acting lately .. I don't want to be associated with them either.
But .. 3rd parties do not do well .. and I sure wouldn't want Rudy .. a repub .. and Hillary.
Chances are .. Hillary would win.
"I don't see "republican" in that filing. Why is there no "republican" in that filing?
What?
I think you meant that post for somebody else. But, to answer your question: I don't know.
"Scrap the primaries and bring back the smoke filled rooms"
AMEN!!!
Good way to split the Republican vote. I was wondering when the Clintons would come up with an independent to help her split the Republican vote.
I think "its" should be "it's" if it's to be it is.
Anyway, the story doesn't say that it's no mistake.
It does not matter, he won't get elected... he is in this to help Clinton...
If he goes independent, he and Hillary are both gone.
I agree - if he goes independent - it would only split the liberal voters. The conservatives would have more of a consensus (that's assuming the Republican candidate would be a conservative & not a RINO like McPain-in-the-A$$).
I've speculated that he's got a better chance of winning as an independent than as a Republican. For one thing, he wouldn't have to go through the primary process. Secondly, he would be able to credibly run as a "conservative" of sorts even while distancing himself from the Bush administration when it suits him to do so.
Ping to #95.
Not in the last two elections.

Just a raz for your "I don't see Hunter in that poll. Why is he not in the poll?"-You sent me the other day.
Welcome to FR :)
Hmmm... have you seen this?
Yes - Probably because he's not officially running yet. That's what I'm guessing.
