Ann Coulter analyzes GOP Presidential hopefuls:

---Rudy Giuliani:

"I Think He's The Only Republican Who Can't Beat Hillary."

"I don't see him winning the Primary."

"If you can't get MY vote as a Republican against Hillary....."

---John McCain:

"Not a Conservative, but a patriot."

"A genuine war hero, unlike John Kerry."

"His weaknesses are half of his positions."

---Mitt Romney:

"Red stater in a blue state."

"Has a working knowledge of God."

---Newt Gingrich:

"Absolutely brilliant."

"His closet has certainly been thoroughly investigated already."

"I wish we could bring him in to pinch-hit for all presidential debates."

Actually Bush didnt win the debates...Gore lost them and most people thought Kerry won, though it was close....who would have thought before the VP debates in 1996, that Jack Kemp would have handed his a@@ to him by Al Gore....Gingrich cannot perfom well in that type of controlled environment....maybe he'd do well in a no rules debate but not a Presdiential one

well it says quite a bit about what FR has become.

And you have summised this in the whole fourteen days you've been here?

That's incorrect she wasnt even ahead of Lazio, the final 54-46 was much wider than any polls had the race. Even with Lazio the race was a toss up with Hill leading by 1-2 at most. I remember a 48-46 poll right before election day

He sure is to the tune of 129,000 dollars. He was saying that everybody did it so what is wrong with it. He was using an account to write checks for haircuts...He couldn't even pay for a haircut without bouncing. If you search Duncan Hunter you will see the FR thread. It came out early this morning. I was considering him as a good guy for us, but no way now.

Not true. I actually have a stack of polls from the race in front of me, and they all had Clinton at or over 50%, with Lazio in the low 40s. She was always ahead, but definitively so from early September on. Lazio caught up briefly with her over the summer, when he was still in the honeymoon phase with voters, until Hillary actually started campaigning. For a brief period, Lazio was polling against her much better than Rudy had been.

And Rudy's 'treatment schedule' doesn't jive.

"Jive" is street slang for semen. The word you probably want is jibe. (See definition 2.)

I think Hillary would win Arkansas, Missouri and possibly Montana, Colorado and Florida against Rudy. Montana and Florida are certainly wacko predictions that violate the CW, but I have my suspicions.

Huckabee (former AR governor and presidential wannabe) could not deliver the state to a Pubbie successor, it went to a Dem in 06. Nor did Huckabee leave office with any high state office being held by a Pubbie.

Arkansas could easily fall into the Dem column in 08.

I can't pick a person who "steals" and it really is if you think about it.

As I understood it, there was also delayed depositing in the House members' accounts kept in this so-called bank/clearinghouse. At any rate, it was sloppy business all round. Hunter has had 15 years or so to live with his mistake, as have the other 300 plus rascals. Of course, we have the prerogative to throw the bums out whenever we see fit; but I'm giving Hunter a chance just as I gave Newt and Dick Cheney who also were involved to a lesser degree.

I didn't know about this until a FREEPER posted it today.

It is under "10 things you didn't know about Duncan Hunter" if you search our FR search.

What is most worrisome is history...fraud is overrated...I dont think any election in MI or PA at the Presidential level has been swayed by fraud...

Here is the problem the GOP faces in 2008:

Historically after a party wins two consecutuve elections it loses at least 4-5 points of the two party popular vote in the next election:

TWO party vote here:

1996 Clinton 54%
2000 Gore 50%

1984 Reagan 60%
1988 Bush 55%

1972 Nixon 62%
1976 Ford 49%

1964 LBJ 61%
1968 Humphrey 50%

1956 Eisenhower 58%
1960 Nixon 50%

That means the GOP in the best case scenario (ala 1988 and 2000) is headed for a 53-47 defeat, on par with 1996 (54-46). In the worst scenario (1976 and 1960), it could be a 60-40 rout.

Is the GOP even going to bother nominating a candidate against Pryor in 2008? Arkansas is giving Massachusetts a run for its money in the GOP incompetence contest.

I'm not happy at all...but I understand there's a process. Running for office is a purely voluntary activity. Those who criticize the choices have credibility to the degree they're willing to take the shots themselves.

Ann Coulter clearly states that she would not vote for Rudy Giuliani in a general election against Hillary Clinton.

Ann needs to be reminded who the enemy is. Aside from social issues (and even on these, Rudy seems to believe they belong at the state level, not at the federal level), Rudy's not as liberal as many here think he is. The Clintons, on the other hand, are not only the most leftist couple to ever occupy the White House, but both are hopelessly narcissitic and sociopathic. What Hillary needs isn't a term in office, but an inpatient stay at a psychiatric hospital.

he's NOT going to get mentioned, and because he doesn't get mentioned, he won't poll at all

The MSM is trying to manipulate this election and the nominees of both parties. They really don't care who wins (although they do have their ultimate favorite) the nominations. They just want to try to exercise clout by driving the election in the direction they want. If given the opportunity, for headlines, they will publicly execute and bury any candidate (ask Howard Dean).

They headline candidates who they can use to make headlines. McCain was the darling for a long time. After Russert's pelting, McCain seems to have fallen from grace, as Hagel's star is rising. Same with Obama, after the Clinton machine attack on him. End results: Headlines. And the MSM loves it.
