More good news on Hunter. The lefties apparently already know that Hunter is a contender and they're worried about him. It's some of the folks on our side who need convincing...

More likely they are setting us up to run one of our weaker candidates against Hillary or Obama. They know neither cant beat McCain or Giuliani and the more people see and hear Hillary, the less they will like her.

It's kind of like Brayer Rabbit(sp), saying whatever you do, please dont throw me in that briar patch. In this case the Dems are saying oh please whatever you do, dont nominate Duncan Hunter. Oh Please!!

Dear Antoninus,

"Political analyst says [Duncan] Hunter can move into GOP top tier"

Here at FR, he already IS the top tier.

Hunter was on Steffie's This Week program.

Immediately after the Hunter segment ended, Steffie turned to talk to his panel. His first statement to the panel was:

Steppie on Duncan Hunter: "I don't think he has a chance....longest of the long shots."

===

Hunter seems the best of the lot so far. I hope he makes Steffie eat his words.

Name recognition doesn't always work in one's favor, you know.

Expect McCainiacs and Rudy-tooters to ratchet up the volume considerably.

Hunter is a nice guy. He is great Congress critter and debater of security and military topics, and we need him in this national security role, but he has absolutely no chance at attaining the presidency. He and Dennis Kucinich(sp) have a equal chance at winning, and with both their chances pooled together, they could not win a party nomination.

You cannot will this to happen, no matter how much you would like it to occur. It just is not in the political cards and if by some stupid chance he could become a front runner for the nomination, his only contribution would be to steer the debate, or get a bit of publicity for a appointment.(assuming a Republican wins)

House members candidacies are useless with the single exception of a way to guide the debate and the issues. The reality is that they are not designed to win nominations, and never have been. It is a political anomaly when one actually succeeds.

Not only does Hunter have the Liberals worried he also has the Giuliani crowd worried. Not that there is much difference from what I have seen and heard. Kind of funny how D.Hunter has gone from "Not even in the top 1 percent" to "He still can't beat Hillary"

Thats my bellweather, Hunter in 08.

If Hunter seizes the immigration issue, he will be a major player since the other "name" candidates are on the wrong side of the issue. Hunter is a veteran, has a son who served in Iraq, knows the issues from his years in Congress, and can handle himself in debates. It will be up to him to define his opponents and contrast himself with them on the issues. It will be an uphill battle, but Hunter does offer something different from the RINOs who have seized control of the party.

It is refreshing to see good news on a daily basis. As for the name recognition there is still time for that to develope. There is no question that Hunter is the best of the pack. Go Hunter!

"Political analyst and former Democrat insider Keith Thompson says"

Great!!! A DEMOCRAT is pushing Duncan Hunter -- can't imagine why, can you? Could it be, because Hillary could beat him by about 70/30?

"""It's some of the folks on our side who need convincing..."""

Not this one anymore (or my father). I have shared links on this site and others with my father over the last two weeks and we have decided Duncan is our man!

Our checks are in the mail and more will follow. I have wanted a (real) conservative candidate and I am now convinced he is that guy.

The war on terror

Immigration

The balance of the supreme court

I hope America give Hunter a closer look because he is our best shot to put conservatism in the White House!

He sounds like a potential Howard Dean, hopefully with a better termperment for politics. We do need someone new to shake things up and if people can focus on this guy as an alternative to the current mix, who knows what can happen?
