I'm angry. I'm angry at the 'antiwar' protesters who heaped abuse on our troops. And I'm angry at the people who couldn't be bothered to stand up for our troops yesterday.
Tens of thousands of anti-American leftists and their dupes marched on our nation's capital calling for America's defeat in the war on terror in Iraq.
Only about forty people could be bothered to turn out in support of America's victory in Iraq. Among those forty was a civilian POW held by the North Vietnamese communists and several Iraq war veterans--including wounded warriors who left the hospital to stand up for their brothers in arms on the home front.
Why did former POW Mike Benge and Iraq vet Joshua Sparling only find a few dozen people willing to stand with them? Why, as the anti-American left is heading toward repeating their victory in Vietnam, are so many people sitting on their asses and doing nothing to stop them?
Why, when Joshua Sparling was spat on, cursed at and threatened by 'peace marchers', were there so few people there to defend his honor?
Why was Jane Fonda allowed to desecrate the Navy Memorial and only face token opposition?
Why did Mike Benge see thousands more people showing up to cheer Jane Fonda than there were to denounce her?
Those who were there to support these patriots will be posting their observations and photos on this thread. I've said my piece.
Even if the DC group had mustered 500.. well, we would have been sorely overwhelmed. I thought there might be several hundred FReepers from the potential in the Greater DC area & the fact it was a Saturday
so true
I will be in the Bahamas on March 17th. Can we try for April?
Never mind -- if need be, I will fly back if we have something planned.
If you are taking a cruise ship, just divert it up the Potomac for the day. :-))

You'd lose that bet.
Guennie, whenever I go to anything like this I do go to the closest police & look at them sincerly & say, I don't plan to cause trouble, I am here to support our military & government....and may I count on you to protect me?
They usually size up my appearance, signs, flags & give me a warm smile & say, You bet we will.. or something similar.
I did that in spring at Bethesda & Walter Reed.. each time they came by they nodded & eyed me.
I did that at Cleveland also & I truly do believe the police are just not as experienced in this sort of thing as the DC cops are..
As far as supporting the troops? Americans will come out in droves to help our troops, especially one that has been injured. See HERE for a story how local folks made a local Marine smile on Christmas Eve.
Another thing people have to consider when it comes to the Iraq war is that the president and the Republicans kept "turning the other cheek" to the Democrat juggernaught. The president's "new tone" in Washington was tone deaf. American politics is bloodsport but bloodless, it's always been a hard knuckled in-the-face fight.
When one side silently allows the other (with media help) to slug-mouth it over and over with lies and distortations a couple of things happen. One, some people start to believe the lies. Two, the people that allow themselves to be throttled over and over lose the respect of the people that support them. The bottom line is that the president and the Republicans no longer looked like leaders. After thousands of Americans were killed on 9/11 it was so easy for them to defend themselves if they had done so with one voice.
On top of this George W. Bush has cut the heart out of people like me that would have done anything for him. He has turned a blind eye to the border invasion. His inaction on the border and illegals cheapen his words on the war on terror and also shows that he puts Americans second. Maybe I'm wrong about that but how would I know unless the president communicates to me why I'm wrong? Unfortunately, his communictions skills have become worse and not better. Who did George W. Bush turn out to be? I now who I thought he was and he's not that person.
The president and the Republicans screwed themselves. Worse, they screwed us. Sad sad sad....
If any talking heads what to talk .. that can be planned later
I can't view the pictures or video via this computer. However, I watched the police "persuade" a group of 4 or 5 young men, behind us, to put down some very long broom-handle type sticks and to disperse. I believe this is the same group that threatened Iraqikurd. At this time, I can't tell if they're the same jerks who threatened Josh.
All right! How do we get him to do it?
Why not a 'I Support the War on Terror' rally? This would include support for a free and democratic Iraq.
I'm sorry I could make it down there due to timing and logistical problems here, but I now have my own little area to worry about. I just need a large American flag.
I'm glad you're there! I wish I could be, but there's no way I could afford such a trip. I'm really dissappointed our (troop support) showing was so small.
Look towards Democrats with money.
That's a decision that he has to make. No one can force it. But it is my firm belief that he can save lives and I beg him to do it.
He'll have my complete support. Anything he needs from me to make it happen, I'm there.
