Bush Challenges Congress on Iraq; 'I'm The Decision-Maker'

WASHINGTON — President Bush, on a collision course with Congress over Iraq, said Friday "I'm the decision-maker" about sending more troops to the war. He challenged skeptical lawmakers not to prematurely condemn his plan.

"I've picked the plan that I think is most likely to succeed," Bush said in an Oval Office meeting with senior military advisers.

The president had strong words for lawmakers on both sides of the aisle who are lining up to support resolutions opposing his decision to send 21,500 troops to Iraq. He challenged them to put up their own ideas. "Some are condeming a plan before it's even had a chance to work," he said.

Bush said lawmakers agree that failure in Iraq would be a disaster and that he chose a strategy that he and his advisers thought would help turn the tide in Iraq.

The president met with Army Lt. Gen. David Petraeus, newly confirmed by the Senate to command U.S. troops in Iraq.

"My instruction to him was `Get over to the zone as quickly as possible, and implement a plan that will achieve our goals,"' Bush said.

"You're going into an important battle in the war on terror," he told Petraeus.

We don't have "millions of Muslims" in the US at this point in time. We have more sodomites in the US than we do Muslims and you will notice that I have not said to destroy every Muslim nation. ONLY Iraq. If Iran doesn't fall in line then Iran and any other Muslim nation that won't stop trying to kill us and doesn't change their ways then we should terminate their existence next.
As for the Muslims in the US I suggest we allow them to practice their religion in peace so long as they do not try to force their religion upon a primarily Christian populace. Majority is supposed to rule. If the Muslims and their liberal/moderate friends start up with suicide bombings, uprisings and murdering their neighbors, etc. then execute those that commit such crimes and if it becomes epidemic I suggest we round up all Muslims and their liberal/moderate friends and either ship them to Saudi Arabia or segregate and incarcerate them here. These people choose to be Muslims. That is all fine and dandy but don't try to force me to be a Muslim. I'll fight back.

We are at war with Islam. Smoking hashish (or whatever drug it is that those with the diplomatic mindset seem to prefer) doesn't remove this reality from our world. Islam is an enemy of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and any country that professes to be a follower of Elohim. Just because a small group of people in this country don't believe the United States is a Christian Nation in no way negates the FACT that Muslims DO believe we are a "Christian Nation." In fact they see us in the same light they see Israel and they hate Israel.

If Bush really wanted suggestions on how to defeat terrorism he'd implement mine however... He is a Globalist and couldn't give a rat's rear whether the US wins this war or not. He seems to be more interested in making our nation the world's police force and soup kitchen.
I voted for both Bushes but only because they were the lesser of two evils. NOT because I liked either one. I'm a Christian first, a conservative second and a Republican third. As a conservative I say let's end this. Let's lock down our borders and dispatch whatever military force is necessary to complete the job of utterly destroying our enemies in the quickest manner possible.
Anyone in this nation that opposes our ultimate goal needs to be imprisoned or executed as seditionists and traitors. If these steps are ignored the US will go the way of all other world powers of yesteryear; I guarantee.

Don't you think it would help if an equal number of Republicans would hit the airwaves in defense of Bush and the war as do DemoRats? Yeah the MSM has their skew on things. But could they really ignore a united front in support of the President and his initiatives?
Instead these guys are riding the fence and worrying about re-election. They worry so much about re-election that they have stopped listening to their constituents that elected them. And because they stopped listening, a good number of good politicians went down with a lot of bad ones this past election. While Bush knows he is not running for office, he appears to be losing more support as time progresses because of the political posturing, fence riding, test the wind direction RINOs more worried about their future than the future of our nation.

This is pathetic. When the going gets tough, the tough get going. But not in this day and age. When the going gets tough, it's cut and run, cover your ass, and to hell with everyone else.

If we are so tired of the MSM covering everything one sided, then perhaps we should make the news correspondents register as Lobbiests since they always lead their stories and add analysis, which directs public opinion when it is repeated without accountability.

My opinion. The political process is nauseating. Besides W, is there anyone with intergity left in elected office?
Why is the media allowed to be so complicit in the direction of public opinion when it is their only obligation to give us the unbiased news and let us decide for ourselves where we should stand.

Are people so blind that their every thought has to be directed by a small minority of so called reporters?

You are absolutely right and I am sick of these people who accuse Bush of not taking a strong stand on issues. Bush has certainly taken a strong stand on pro-life issues, marriage and the family. I admire him greatly for this. He is a strong courageous man. I wish these weenie Freepers would check their facts before shooting off their mouths.

He can't authorize the assassination of anyone. Remember the Church Commission and Jimmy Carter? It's illegal. Another one we owe to Jimmy and the Democrats.

Nope it was Gerald R. Ford the Church Committee was in era 1975-76 who by E.O. in 1976 that made the covert assassination of others verboten. Carter however did sign one just like it as did Reagan. The difference? Reagan did not hesitate to launch a military strike to accomplish the same task.

Excerpted information from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Church_Commission #The_Ford_administration_and_the_Church_Committee

In 1975 and 1976, the Church Committee published fourteen reports on the formation of U.S. intelligence agencies, their operations, and the alleged abuses of law and of power that they had committed, together with recommendations for reform, some of which were put in place. Among the matters investigated were attempts to assassinate foreign leaders, including Patrice Lumumba of the Congo, Rafael Trujillo of the Dominican Republic, the Diem brothers of Vietnam, Gen. René Schneider of Chile and President John F. Kennedy's plan to use the Mafia to kill Fidel Castro of Cuba. Under recommendations and pressure by this committee, President Gerald Ford issued Executive Order 11905 (ultimately replaced in 1981 by President Reagan's Executive Order 12333) to ban U.S. sanctioned assassinations of foreign leaders. Together, the Church Committee's reports have been said to constitute the most extensive review of intelligence activities ever made available to the public. Much of the contents were classified, but more than 50,000 pages have since been declassified under the 1992 JFK Assassination Records Collection Act.

I know it's a Wikipedia source but I am sure on this as I have looked it up several times in other sources. You have to remember that politically Ford and Carter were pretty much the same. Many of the Ford woes spilled over into Carters term including the military ones. True Carter was horrible but this one was done by Ford. Carter just signed off on it.

"No White House can combat that kind of hostility."

Reagan did it. Or will you try and tear Reagan down to build up Buah?

Gee Zark surprise me ONE time. Actually attack the Democrat Party leaders on ANYTHING instead of desperately twisting and turning every thread to find some excuse NOT to attack them for their conduct.

"I've picked the plan that I think is most likely to succeed," Bush said in an Oval Office meeting with senior military advisers.

And the democrats have chosen to rip apart the plan most likely to succeed.

It's, as it's always been, up to us voters. (the primary focus of the DNC)

Are we going to focus on political jargon like we have in the past and lose or focus on what we know to be best for us all and win?

Michael Yon writes some good stuff from Iraq in his blog. He is embedded with the Army at this time.

Go to: http://www.michaelyon-online.com/wp/desolate-roads-part-one.htm

Greetings:

After spending most of 2005 in Iraq, five months of which were in Mosul, I am back to report on the progress and obstacles. There remain only a handful of US soldiers in Mosul, and they continue to fight every day. The Iraqi Security Forces here are vastly improved from 2005. Mosul is a key and critical city in this war. The terrorists want it badly. Practically the only thing standing between Mosul and the terrorists are the Iraqis who are tired of the violence, and the small group of American soldiers who are vastly outnumbered.

I am again with an American infantry unit, this time it is the 2/7 Cavalry, based in Texas. During the first week of my embed, the battalion lost 6 soldiers killed in action, and 1 interpreter. Others were severely wounded. They also were fighting back and inflicting worse damage on the enemy. "Desolate Roads Part 1 of 2," the dispatch now posted on the site, chronicles singular moments from the past two weeks in Mosul.

My request to extend the embed with the 2/7 Cavalry has been approved and I am looking forward to being able to observe and report on the dynamic situation on the ground here. Already, two of my camera lenses, my ballistic goggles and other expensive gear have been damaged beyond repair. The support of readers will determine how much longer I will be able to continue this work.

Very Respectfully,

Michael

There is a famous quotation about events being tragedy the first time and farce the second time.

Fonda and Kerry in 1971 was tragedy...now Fonda and Code Pink is farce.

I look at the resurgence of Jane Fonda as proof that the aging hippy protest movement has lost all strength and "power."

He is a strong courageous man.

A trait which apparently creates disdain in the minds of those who dislike individual strength.

Plan of the Democrat Party.

My Plan: I hate Bush

My Motivation: Hate for Bush and all Republicans and everything Republicans stand for.

My Goal: To kill the Republican party so it becomes full of RINOs, and to make sure that conservatives have NO political voice , or role in government, so that they will have to resort to revolution in order to be heard. This goal will be accomplished even if we must turn on our own troops just as we did in the Vietnam War era. We must ensure the Republican failure in Iraq, even at the coast of the suffering of millions in Iraq, so we will win the 2008 elections for Congress and the Presidency.

*************************************************

To that plan, I say I am ready, whether we achieve victory in Iraq or not. I love Democrats. Every Republican should own at least one.

Is this a well appreciated and mindful understanding that Jane Fonda urinal targets will be gone and us urinal users will have to find other means to vent while going pee?

Democratic party dogma in order of concern:

1) Democratic Party

2) Political power

3) Money

4) Destruction of opponents to their directive

5) The people of our Republic

6) Our sovereign republic.

7)Survival of our republic.

"CLINTON: Good evening.

Earlier today, I ordered America's armed forces to strike military and security targets in Iraq. They are joined by British forces. Their mission is to attack Iraq's nuclear, chemical and biological weapons programs and its military capacity to threaten its neighbors.

The hard fact is that so long as Saddam remains in power, he threatens the well-being of his people, the peace of his region, the security of the world.

The best way to end that threat once and for all is with a new Iraqi government -- a government ready to live in peace with its neighbors, a government that respects the rights of its people."

I love Bush's speechisms, it makes him REAL. He is truly a Godsend to this country, regardless of how he speaks, which by the way, happens to be FOR this country.
