Tancredo slams White House for being 'tone deaf' for ignoring overwhelming public opposition to unpopular plan. The President...did everything he could to guarantee a Congress sympathetic to his "amnesty for all" plan. I am disappointed but not surprised that the President has once again chosen to trot out this same old pig, albeit with a slightly new shade of lipstick.

In a disastrous midterm election in which Republicans lost both houses of Congress, Tancredo won reelection with a resounding 60%. He's remained true to his core conservative principles - and the base responded positively. Is anybody listening?

Does George Bush have principles any more?
He figures there won't be any more law-breaking if we just eliminate the law.

Tancredo needs to continue to distance himself from this failed President and laughing stock of a party. Other conservatives would do well to do the same.

Does George Bush have principles any more? It's like they used to say about my Uncle Bob: When he wasn't drinking he was the soberest fellow around.

Interesting poll. Depressing, too. I can see Huckabee's success due to some of his traits, but he is soft on illegals and thus could never get my vote. I hope Tancredo runs.

Guest worker program. The entire audience just heaved a tired sigh with that one. V's wife.

Tancredo also distanced himself from the entire city of Miami, and he killed his chances for Presidential victory just from this action alone. He also bothered a lot of people with his comment a few months ago about what to do about the War in Iraq. I like Tancredo, but he's already labeled as a "one issue candidate" and a political gadfly. The mainstream media will end up tearing him apart worse than President Bush, and many conservatives already consider Tancredo as Pat Buchanan's successor! All of these things combined defeat his chances for Presidential victory.

You are correct, but Pennsylvania (Santorum being voted out) disagreed with the same Conservative message. Many states are now part of the "dark side".
You witnessed Virginia's shift to the left in the dim rebuttal last night. It makes me ill! I am afraid the movie "Idiocracy" nailed America's problem perfectly.

I don't expect him to win. The elites have already anointed their candidates and Hillary should start measuring for drapes now. What Tancredo and others like him can do is to get the American public stirred from the grassroots so we have some hope of saving this republic from the hands of the socialists (both neo-con Republicans and liberal Democrats).
The GOP is on life support. Attempts to revive it are futile. It's time for Tancredo and other conservatives like him to pull the plug and find a new home.

"Tancredo also distanced himself from the entire city of Miami."
He also told the absolute truth about Miami. My only problem is that he apologized for those statements and backed down. Where are the true Americans? There is not 1 Republican candidate worth voting for. This country is in a lot of trouble and the apathetic right is just sitting there and letting it happen.

Santorum's message was only socially conservative. He was a supporter of big government just like his buddy Arlen Specter.
Find a true conservative that can articulate the principles of limited government, low taxes, self-responsibility and moral absolutes and they can win PA.

I didn't watch the state of the union, but I guess it's not surprising he went for his amnesty again. He promised it to Vincete Fox when he first got into office, September 11, 2001 happened and ruined it at the time but Bush still hasn't gotten over it. With the democrats in charge, he can finally be the big-government compassionate "conservative" he's always wanted to be.

Tancredo needs to continue to distance himself from this failed President and laughing stock of a party. Other conservatives would do well to do the same. This is not a good idea. We need to express our support for President Bush on the WOT. The last thing we need is a splintered Republican party. We will never win anything divided.
To: BW2221
"Does George Bush have principles any more?"
Sure he does -- the same principles he's had all along. We all hoped he really was conservative but he's just another RINO.
To: Conservativegreatgrandma
Why should conservatives support Bush on the WOT when he is willing to leave our borders open? The first step to ensuring our nation's defense is to prevent the invasion from Mexico.
If the GOP continues on the same course that it is presently taking we can expect to lose the White House in '08 and lose additional seats in Congress.
The best hope for conservatives is to get off this sinking ship while there is still a chance.
