Excerpt -

BELGRADE (Reuters) - Serbia's ultranationalist Radical Party claimed victory in national elections on Sunday, in a voter rejection of Western appeals for closer cooperation on the arrest of war criminals and on Kosovo.

A projection of the result showed the opposition Radicals, strongest party in Serbia for years, taking 28 percent of the vote, a point higher than the 2003 national elections.

"The Radical Party has won these elections," said Tomislav Nikolic, the Radical's candidate for prime minister in the absence of party leader Vojislav Seselj, who is on trial for war crimes at the U.N. tribunal in The Hague.

His only regret was the Radicals did not win 50 percent.

"That spoils our celebration tonight because we're convinced that hard days lie ahead for Serbia," said Nikolic. "Until the Radicals form a government, things will be tough for Serbia."

Congratulations to the "Ultra-nationalists". No matter how horrible Milosovich was it is undeniable now that we went to the aid of a group Albanians, the KLA, that was a part of consistent Islamic aggression against the Serbs and Croats. What did the Islamic world do to repay our efforts in Israel and Bosnia? Just remember that the same people, the Jimmy Carters of the world, are looking to gain full control of government through Hillary Clinton. The part of Peace through weakness is rising again.

Please note that George W. Bush also supported, and continues to support, the Kosovo quagmire (though most conservatives were against it).

Pffftttt... They will never be in power because they're too comfortable sitting in Parliament and receiving a fat paycheque every month while assuming no responsibility whatsoever. They can't be in power because it will be their downfall. Their support would shrink to under 10% within a year. Look at the once mighty Socialists - they barely secured more than the mandatory 5%. The Radicals' supporters ought to wake up and realise that they're wasting their votes - they're voting Radical and in turn the Radicals sit and do absolutely nothing.

President Boris tadic (Democratic Party)
said that he wont give mandate to Radical Party.
In spirit of true Democrate, he said, and I Quote:
"I will give mandate to the largest party from one block, and that is Democratic Party (his own)"
Not mentioning that they came 2nd and actually lost elections.
Asked by reporter "Will you give mandate to radicals if Democrates cant form goverment?"
he Anwsered, laughingly "No, not realy"

I just love democracy.
I didnt woted for Radicals, but this Democrate is going on my nerves, they are all products of worst school of communism...
I came 2nd and I daclare myself a winner...

my thoughts exactly. though, it is also up to the other parties to educate this large group of voters and attract them to their views.

Care to speculate on what is ahead with the new government. Will they be able to block Kosovo independence?

"Pffftttt... They will never be in power because they're too comfortable sitting in Parliament and receiving a fat paycheque every month while assuming no responsibility whatsoever"

I agree. The Radicals are basically the "Screw You Party" -- they gain power because people are frustrated & angry, and the Radicals just put words to their frustration. If the Radicals ever were put in a position to have to actually "do something" about the issues, they would fail.

The West grossly underestimates the Serbs' attachment to Kosovo. There are few things that Serbs aren't willing to see both sides of an issue on, as much as it might frustrate them, but Kosovo is one of those things that there are no "two sides" of -- it is one of the few things on which the Radicals and most Democrats can agree. And that goes for Serbs' worldwide. "Kosovo is Serbia", period -- it's Holy Ground that they are not willing to cede to Muslim Albanians. Serbs' ancestors sacrificed their lives to protect it and this generation is not willing to fail at preserving it. Anyone who doesn't get that, doesn't understand Serbs at all -- which is why Wisner and Serwer have their heads up their butts and they can spout their platitudes and soundbites from here to eternity re "the future vs. the past", "Serbia joining Europe", blah, blah, blah. If I were Serbia, I'd tell them to go screw themselves, too!

I belive so. No partz except Liberals would even concider abandoning Kosovo, cause it woul dmean aswell polictical but also genuine suicide. Serbs are known for execution of their liders they belive betrayed nation.

But I cant this far speculate about new goverment. Democrates are second but they proclamated "victory".

methinks ds, dss-ns and g17 will use all of the 90 days to form the new gov.
who the real winner is will be known after the cabinet is formed.
battles to watch, other than the prime minister's position would be for the positions of the interior minister and minister of justice.

"Pro western" daily "Blic" in todays issue

1st page:

"TRIYUMPH FOR DEMOCRATIC BLOCK"
continues with glorifying Democratic party "victory" although they won 2nd place

Pages 6 and 7

"HILLARY CLINTON RUSHING TO WHITE HOUSE"

Giving allmost whole-page color photo of Hillary Clinton and followed by pro-Clinton propaganda.

Americans,
there are no pro-american parties and forces in Serbia in so-called "Democratic block"
They are posted in power in Serbia by Clinton and Soros, supported by Maddie halfbright, they cheered Carry for president in 2004, and they are devoted followers of American Democratic party and NOT USA.
