Pit Bulls Wreak Havoc at Ohio Shelter

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) -- Dozens of pit bulls seized in dogfighting investigations have bitten workers at an animal shelter and generally behaved so badly that visitors are warned away from their cages.

Most of the 72 dogs bark furiously at visitors, propelling their muscled bodies against cage bars and grabbing hold of coats of passers-by, said Mark Kumpf, director of the Montgomery County Animal Control Center.

The dogs were confiscated in raids by police, starting in July. The animals have been housed by the county at a cost to taxpayers of about $60,000 as the cases go through the courts.

Several workers at the animal center have been bitten, mostly breaking up fights between the dogs when they are removed from cages for cleaning or exercise, Kumpf said.

Dogs who have been trained to fight in dogfights are borderline insane. They have been so mistreated and have had such cruel things done to them that probably the only way to go wiil be to euthanize them. That applies to all dogs with this training, not just pit bulls. Dogfighting is a horrible thing -

They can't. The dogs are evidence in the trial of the dog fight organizer.

I love Cesar's show
he was an illegal Mexican immigrant
supposedly he paid a fine and got legal - at least that's what his book says

his dog training methods are great
I've tamed an out of control adolescent golden retreiver we got from rescue (original owner had turned him in)
apparently the Humane Society doesn't like Cesar but I think his hard nosed approach is fine

What? This thread has been up for over 20 minutes, and no one has weighed in with "All Pit Bulls should be put down, The breed should be gassed off the face of the earth, pit bull owners should be fined, etc. etc...."

I'll wait....

Teacup poodles are very dangerous. Just today one bit my little finger while I was trimming its toenails. I also had a Yorky growl at me after I gave it a vaccination. Oh, the horror!! Pit bulls are cuddly misunderstood animals and need to be petted and afforded some pity for their plight. Just because pit bulls are violent and fight when put together doesn't make them dangerous or the fact they are responsible for the majority of human killings by dogs doesn't make them all that way. We need diversity and affirmative action for pit bulls. We need to integrate pit bulls into families that are racist toward them so we can promote diversity. Pit bulls need a ACLU and a NAACP like organization to prevent them from breedism and discrimination. Poor mistreated pit bulls. Pit bulls are the way they are because they are descended from dog slavery and therefore not responsible for their actions.

To begin with they are not only trained to fight, they are bred to fight. The instinct to bite and fight has been bred into pitt bulls for hundreds of years. You can't train a pig to fly, they don't have the instincts or the proper equipment. The instincts and the enhanced physical abilities have been bred into these dogs and all the training does is enhance what they already are.
They need to put these dogs down at the earliest opportunity. They also need to look at their local laws to ensure that the owners of these dogs are forced to properly maintain these dogs and have the insurance necessary to take care of victims medical bills. Most people are covered by their homeowners insurance but some companies exclude pitt bulls from coverage. I wonder why?

Take court certified pictures first.

A dead body is "evidence" of a crime as well. We usually bury them after the autopsy, not drag them into the courtroom.
