The Weather Channels most prominent climatologist is advocating that broadcast meteorologists be stripped of their scientific certification if they express skepticism about predictions of manmade catastrophic global warming. This latest call to silence skeptics follows a year (2006) in which skeptics were compared to "Holocaust Deniers" and Nuremberg-style war crimes trials were advocated by several climate alarmists.
The Weather Channels (TWC) Heidi Cullen, who hosts the weekly global warming program "The Climate Code," is advocating that the American Meteorological Society (AMS) revoke their "Seal of Approval" for any television weatherman who expresses skepticism that human activity is creating a climate catastrophe.
"If a meteorologist can't speak to the fundamental science of climate change, then maybe the AMS shouldn't give them a Seal of Approval. Clearly, the AMS doesn't agree that global warming can be blamed on cyclical weather patterns," Cullen wrote in her December 21 weblog on the Weather Channel Website. [Note: It is also worth taking a look at the comments section at the bottom of Cullens blog, very entertaining.] See: http://climate.weather.com/blog/9_11396.html This latest call to silence skeptics of manmade global warming has been the subject of discussion at the annual American Meteorological Societys Annual conference in San Antonio Texas this week. "It's like allowing a meteorologist to go on-air and say that hurricanes rotate clockwise and tsunamis are caused by the weather. It's not a political statement...it's just an incorrect statement," Cullen added. [Note to Cullen: As the resident climate expert at TWS, you should know that Hurricanes in the Southern Hemisphere do rotate clockwise. Also, Cullen and the media have ignored the growing climate skepticism by prominent scientists see: http://epw.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?FuseAction=PressRoom.PressReleases&ContentRecord_id=E58DFF04-5A65-42A4-9F82-87381DE894CD ]
Cullens call for decertification of TV weatherman who do not agree with her global warming assessment follows a year (2006) in which the media, Hollywood and environmentalists tried their hardest to demonize scientific skeptics of manmade global warming. Scott Pelley, CBS News 60 Minutes correspondent, compared skeptics of global warming to "Holocaust deniers" and former Vice President turned foreign lobbyist Al Gore has repeatedly referred to skeptics as "global warming deniers." "She transferred over from CNN"
Rats always find a suitable home.
Just a curiosity question....
When you say "lose", do you mean that they have to be removed?
Or does it mean that you just won't get oranges from them this year?
Both are critical free speech issues, but I think they are part of a larger agenda with tentacles even out to issues like "The Final Solution" style starvation murder of Terri Schiavo.
I am a simple layman and I figured that out years ago. Why cant a women with multiple college degrees?
I ran into a website that rated all the forecasts from the major services, and the government did the best by far. That's what I use and it's almost always right. The weather people on TV are mostly hacks.

The long downtrend from the Cambrian makes sense. A lot of biological organisms sucked CO2 out of the atmosphere and got subducted into the crust over that timespan.
I don't have cable anymore (so TWC doesn't get a dime from me even if I'm NOT watching).
But when I did, I forever tuned out on The Weather Channel when I was stuck inside in Houston during Hurrican Allison and the reports were four hours minimum out of date.
Worthless. You are on your own if you are in a disaster.
They show some weather. But you can get that from the internet. But old people seem to find it calming. Especially if the coverage has nothing to do with learning about weather forecasts in their area.
When I say global warming I just mean a warming trend that has occured over the past couple decades, and 20-50 years from now we could enter a period of global cooling.
Houston just ran the impending Ice Storm for 5 days of round the clock hype (we are talking 20 minutes of a 30 minute newscast). We froze up today (but were always told how it was coming in early and then "late").
But it makes for good ratings. Just like the old cliffhanger serials a the movie theaters.
Seems to be selectively starting at about my gonads....
Dunno..... got a pic of Heidi????
She hasn't been beaten with the "Reality Stick" enough times. I find that to be a common flaw among the academics.
We must be about the same age.
please hold your breath....but I am sure a smart attorney would figure out a way
It has been very cold in Massachusetts ever since the Massachusetts Republican Party died in Massachusetts over fifty years ago!
