California's $1 billion citrus industry suffered a second night of record-low temperatures this weekend, and agriculture officials continued to worry about widespread crop destruction.
Counties where most of the state's oranges, lemons and tangerines are grown saw temperatures plummet into the teens to mid-20s both in the pre-dawn hours of Saturday and Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.
"It was a very bad night," said Nancy Lungren, spokeswoman for the California Department of Food and Agriculture.
Damage to citrus groves in the San Joaquin Valley and Southern California was "widespread" and "significant," Lungren said. But the full impact would not be known until inspectors had a chance to check fruit picked after the cold snap began Friday.

It not only illustrates the fallacies of global warming, but could have a negative impact on jobs for illegals and on Arnold's expectations of fat tax revenues to pay for his profligate spending commitments.

The truth is going to come out sooner or later.
The last period of "global warming" ended in the 1930's, with the warmest year in the 1930's. The over all trend has actually been a cooling one.
This sudden cold snap is only going to make the over all cooling trend more pronounced. -38 here right now.

Darn! I thought it was global
cooling...
I can't keep these things straight!

I'll say. I had to bring my car battery in last night to keep it from freezing.

I was up for 42 hours straight, stoking bonfires all night and cutting firewood in the day. We won't really know for about ten days how bad the damages is.

The Weather Channel will do their part to remind us that there is global warming. It could happen tomorrow.

Used to live in Upper Yucaipa so I can only imagine that the back patio would be frozen. Happened almost every year at least once when the water for our dog would freeze.
Oklahoma definitely does not have Global Warming right now -- just got back in the house from feeding the birds and everywhere I walked it is ice on the ground and it is 17 degrees but at least it is sunny. Fortunately we didn't get freezing rain like they did in eastern and southern OK. Norman didn't even get as much sleet as they did in OKC. We lucked out this time!
