Barbara Boxer seems to have forgotten a great American tradition: The fact that we are a nation of unity and patriotism when it comes to supporting our troops. Thats why her attack on Secretary of State Condoleezza Rices patriotism is so outrageous.
When our country fights evil, our hearts and souls are engaged not because my son or daughter, or your children, or your neighbor's children fight for freedom; we unify over the fact that America's sons and daughters are fighting for freedom.
As the mother of three and the wife of a retired naval officer, it has never occurred to me that my single friends feel any less patriotic, any less of a loss when a warrior falls in battle, or that they feel any less pride over our men and women in uniform than do I.
Yes, some families suffer far more deeply than othersbut for Barbara Boxer to imply that the single or the childless care less deeply about America and our future, or that they have any less voice than she does, reveals a level of arrogance and selfishness rarely seen even in the worst of political climates.
Barbara Boxer should be deeply ashamed of herself. The senator should immediately apologize to the U.S. Senate for representing her colleagues so poorly in an official hearing, to Secretary Rice for the disgusting display of disrespect, and to all Americans for insulting our collective patriotism.

Condi was shocked by the questions/statement. She should have turned to Chairman BIden and said: If you are going to allow members of your party to make personal attacks on me, then from this point forward, you and your committee can submit all questions to me in writing, and got up and left the hearing. Boxer's remarks are beyond the pale and Biden should have put her in her place immediately. I called Biden's office yesterday to request that he issue an apology since Boxer refuses to do so.
Big deal, if they did not want to serve just don't join, no one makes them. NEN join the military (and women).
When I saw the video, I felt bad for Condi. It was obvious the comment pained Condi, and was out of line.
Ain't Socialism Wunnerfull!?
Give me a break.
There's 30 million people in California most of which never voted for the woman.
Oh......they belong there. It was "low class, rude, ignorant people" who put them in office.
The vulgar left
If Barbara Boxer (and the Democrats) are so concerned about family members being lost in a war, why focus on Iraq?
There's a low-level crime war being waged every day in the inner cities, and blacks are the main victims. Why doesn't Boxer et al ever make a big issue of the destruction of the Black Family in the Inner City? Instead, we get crickets ....
She should also recuse herself from any vote or debate regarding the poor, the uninsured, illegal immigration or "people of color"
does she have any children in the military or who have served in the military?

She has children, none served.
Condi won't retort: She has too much grace to roll around with pigs.
my primary and lasting impression of Boxer is the picture of her fat butt going up the steps of the Capitol in the womyn members' collective assault on ex-Sen. Packwood for his diary entries
Rabid BITCH would be more accurate.
It's not the disrespect that bothers me. I would expect nothing else from the Democrats. It's the incredible hubris implicit in the notion that you can only appreciate death if you have a son or daughter in the service.
