Saw a documentary, "Grounded on 9-11" on the History Channel a few days ago that mentioned something major about 9-11 that I have not heard before.
At 9:00AM on 9-11 United Airlines sent to all planes a warning message regarding the other hijacks. On United Flight 23, that was on the runway, the captain decided on his own not to take off. He fakes a mechanical problem and returns to the gate!
When the passengers were asked to exit the plan three Middle Eastern men, or possibly as many as six, refuse to follow the request to deplane. Security is called but they flee before it arrived. Later, authorities check their luggage and find copies of the Koran and al-Qaeda instruction sheets.

Currently UA Flight 23 is a New York - Los Angeles flight.
8:55 AM departure, 12:05 arrival.
I looked around and found that it was a Boston - LAX flight according to some info from Cooperative Research's timeline...
Currently, Flight 23 is from JFK to LAX with a scheduled departure time of 8:55 am.
I did a search and found nothing here but that does not mean it has not been mentioned.
Was this a flight out of DFW, delayed by a cargo net issue?
(if it's not, then there were at least two other planes they planned on hijacking that day)
Was this the plane from St. Louis?
There is a lot about 9-11 that has not been released and wonder now if it ever will be.
On 9/11 I remember thinking that there could be more who were unable to carry out their attacks due to planes being grounded, too many people on the plane, or simple cowardice.
There was one leaving St. Louis for DFW that had similar MO.

It's just mind boggling that something so major has remained under the radar.
Has anyone projected the catastrophic damage to our nation if that plane would have hit the capital building or worse yet the White House?
Why just the SYMBOLIC damage alone would have been devastating!!

Whoever called for grounding all planes made a very strategic decision. Have to think Cheney made the call along with "Or, shoot'em down!!"
We all hear rumors. I too wondered why we didn't hear more about possible hijacks which didn't take place because of decisive action on the part of the airports and controllers. I had to conclude (of course I don't know) our law enforcement took names and reviewed passenger lists from that day and eventually this led to other 'halts' to later terrorist events by terrorists unable to complete their missions on that fateful day.
Very shortly after 9/11, I did read that it was determined that several other planes were possible targets, but in all the confusion, when the planes were grounded, the passengers deplaned along with terrorists, and none were caught.
I remember they said that a plane in Atlanta was involved.
Flight 23 is scheduled to leave from JFK to LAX at 0855.
Makes you wonder what their intended target would have been....shudder.
