What the “conservative” useful idiots have brought us: Week one.
January 8, 2007 | self

Posted on 01/08/2007 8:42:14 AM PST by jmaroneps37

The last election told us many things. One thing that stands out above all others is that the number of people who actually understand what is going on in our country today is frighteningly small.

A small group who “get it”

Just half of Americans are registered to vote, so right off, we know that half of America doesn’t care what happens to itself or the rest of us. They live in a different world. You know who they are so it is not necessary to expand on this point.

Of those who are registered, on a good Election Day, sixty percent vote. That means that only thirty percent of Americans are heard, and even a large percentage of them are ill informed or willfully blinding themselves, even as they cast their ballots.

Of this thirty percent, about fifty percent vote Democrat and by doing so show us they do not understand that the Democrats are a party bent on surrendering our security to our terrorist enemies. To be sure not all who vote Democrat want this result, most of the others vote Democrat because they want socialism, gay marriage and dumbed down schools and/or open borders.

That leaves only fifteen percent, or about 1 in 7, of Americans who understand that we are the only hope our nation has.

This bares repeating: Only about 1 in 7 Americans seems to understand the true murderous intentions of our enemies and/or the destructive nature of socialism.

Nevertheless, in the last election, a certain percentage of America’s 1 in 7 voters, people who should know better, voted in a way that showed they were willing put their own demands for single issue purity over the safety of America. This is the reality of what these voters have brought about by their foolish demands that politicians suddenly toe their line totally or be thrown under a bus along with our nation.

The ill informed nitwits that vote Democrat in a knee jerk fashion, the socialists who, though born here, hate America – they are what they are. They must be fought at the ballot box every two years. They are almost like evil little children who will be what they will be, but the, “ I’m staying home because I’m so much more conservative than you, so much smarter than you..” 1 in 7 voters must be held to a higher standard. These voters can not claim ignorance. They willfully handed the reigns of power and responsibility for America’s safety over to the Democrats. There were just enough of these willfully “blind” “single issue purity” voters to hand the Democrats 16 of their 36 victories; this figure being derived from the fact that for the want of just 63,000 more votes spread across these races, America would not now be in the danger she is in.

These people should have known better. They took their own narrow agendas with them on Election Day. They played “make believe” with America’s future and safety. The bought into the Democrat controlled media’s lies that we can’t win the war, the economy is tanking, and open borders would somehow be less threatening if only the Democrats controlled both Houses.

Now these 1 in 7 voters are trying to explain what they did by wringing their hands and complaining about not wanting to “vote for the lesser of two evils.” Apparently it does not occur to this group that the choices we have are really just the choices we have. They don’t understand that failing to vote for the “lesser of two evils” guarantees that you will get the greater of two evils.

These people fancy themselves as so much smarter and so much more conservative than the rest of the 1 in 7. They are nothing more than “conservative” useful idiots.

They, and unfortunately us, now have to live with the disastrous consequences of their self delusions that they would somehow get from a Democrat Congress what they couldn't get from a Republican congress, but that would be the only difference. We will all now have to deal with Democrats who will be as disappointing on some issues, but terrifying on other issues, lots of other issues.

These are a series of headlines. This piece is not written to anyone who needs to have them explained. It is written to the “conservative” useful idiots among us who have joined the fools and socialists to “teach” someone a lesson. Here’s the first week’s “lessons”.

I have posted many many times that if our 'elite' pundits attacked the democrats half as much as they attacked our President and the republicans, we would have been much better off.

The democrats earned our criticism, but we have to be intellectually honest and pander to various dems, give them air time, kiss their rears, call them great Americans, and then turn around and bash the President!

You raise some good points.

In the aftermath of last November's election, I suggested that the biggest "culprit" in the GOP losses was not tbe conservative Republican voter who stayed home "to send a message" . . . it was the socially conservative independent or Democrat who got up out of bed on Election Day, read one more obituary about a casualty in Iraq from a local National Guard unit, drove past a bunch of illegal Mexican immigrants loitering in front of a local convenience store, and asked himself: "WHAT'S THE F#CKING POINT?!"

I'm simply waiting for the event that will make it clear to 6 of 7 (some will NEVER be reached).

Until then, there isn't much you can do...

Ronald Reagan gave the dems far more than they deserved to get the money to build up our military.

Somehow those who have deified Reagan seem to despise President Bush for doing all in his power to get the tax cuts, get the money to the people who earn it, get the money in the budget for the WOT.

"There will be periodic updates to this list."

Good. Cause you failed to address the tragedy of Bush crossing the isle and joining forces with liberals the likes of Ted Kennedy on illegal immigration and purposefully refusing to secure our borders....had he done otherwise, your thread would be for naught.

Nah. Conservative principles are actually quite attractive, if they are communicated effectively. Whereever that happened in this recent election, conservatism won.

"Then there is this 20% that are "independents". What this means is that they don't have a strong identification with either party. They vote based on things other than clearly understood politics. Don't you know people like this? I certainly do."

Or, as some have noted, without the support of the 10% of the voters who are the dumbest, you can't win. This is why all the "atmospherics" are important. Create a mood...win the election. Let the other side create a mood....and you are doomed. The Dems created the mood they needed and are working on the 2008 mood right now. Some Republicans will help them, just as they did last fall. Some of them are conservatives.

For one thing,it would have kept the Democrats out of power.
That one thing alone of itself, is always good.

It's only good when Republicans support limited government...not when Republicans try to grow bigger government than Democrats.

Even Rush Limbaugh said after the election that he felt liberated by the GOP losses -- because he would no longer have to get on the air and defend stupid, idiotic policies promoted by the Republican Party in Washington.

You're aiming for the wrong target. Conservatives turned out in big numbers and we voted for the Republicans over the socialists. The problem is that we lost a huge number of moderates and RINOs, particularly in the northeast and midwest, who voted for the Democrats.

These aren't true conservatives, these are people in the middle who support us on national security but left over Terri Schiavo and the sense that Bush wasn't doing a good job. Change has to come at the top. Convincing a few troublemakers on this site to reform won't change anything without good leadership for the millions of voters who are receptive to our message but still chose the other side this year.

LOL, really EV its not like that at all, I vote, think and speak as far right as you, and have for decades.

As far as Conservatives at NR, talk radio, think tanks, newspaper columnists, pundits, and even anonymous leaks from officeholders, and campaign politicos, said over, and over, and over, that the voters should punish Repubs to teach them and the President a lesson.

I simply disagreed with that and felt that these opinion makers should not weaken the Pres and the Congress during this critical time during the WOT on the home-front, and with boots on the ground in the ME.

I wanted their ire directed in a unified voice, towards the the enemy Islamic cults, who blow up innocents in Iraq and worldwide daily with impunity, against the Dems and their media, for their aiding and abetting and their ideology of massive socialism, pacifism, and anti-Americanism.

Instead we had debates of "macaca", earmarks, Iraq, and illegals.

All the while knowing if we lost the congress the President would get his way on illegals? And judges who give illegals and their lawyers favorable rulings will now have more of a chance? And if we surrendered the Congress then we would surrender Iraq? Not to mention taxes, medical care, energy, wages, ect? Chairmanships are important, as we will soon see.

Anyway, I'm sure most of us on FR agree that Conservatism works, now we just have to convince voters who more and more vote for the candidate who gives them more and more.

It's more a question of style than anything else. I think the party got too closely identified with a single region of the country, and we need to break out of that to win back seats in the midwest and Rockies, and even a few in the northeast.

I have another question. Is FreeRepublic a Republican blog site or a conservative blog site?

It does seem to be morphing into a Republican blog but if it were limited to Republicans I wouldn't be here. I'm a Goldwater Conservative and these days that makes me a Libertarian.
