WASHINGTON (AP) - San Francisco's Nancy Pelosi made history today by becoming the first female Speaker of the House in U.S. history. The 66-year-old Democrat was elected by a 233-to-202 partisan vote in the House of Representatives.
Minutes after she was elected, cheers erupted in the chamber as House Republican leader John Boehner handed her the speaker's gavel.
Standing on the House floor with her six grandchildren, Pelosi said her election marked a historic moment for women in U.S. history.
Among the onlookers in the packed visitors' galleries were actor Richard Gere and singer Tony Bennett.
Pelosi has represented San Francisco in Congress since 1987. The Italian-American mother of five was raised in Baltimore, where her father was that city's mayor.

Yes, "historic." We haven't seen Demobrats in power before, have we?
They are beside themselves with glee at having their power back. I even received an email were Schumer and Emmanual have declared this "A New Era."
My thoughts on that: Democrats Declare A New Era

"The Pelosi Dinning Room (breakfast only) servants stand and wait while Nancy arises from the oppression of her bed chamber...
"The Pelosi Downstairs Servants practice greeting Ms. Pelosi before she arrives to inspect the oppressive downstairs Parlor."
"Breaking free of 200 years of oppressive bathroom cleaning is what Ms. Pelosi is all about! Just ask the Pelosi Bathroom servants (note the modern uniforms)
"The Upstairs Servants practice smiling and stand at attention for when Nancy orders something from the oppressive kitchen.."

Every time I see and hear Pelozi (phonetic spelling with liberal pronunciation) without fail a particular phrase from
the Ultimate Flame comes to mind.
"An insensate, blinking calf,..."
She couldn't have embodied it more than when she attended Gerald Ford's funeral service (a truly stunning piece of video that ought to be on U-Tube with the title "The Joker"). That was weirdness itself but the phrase has been the first thought in my head when I see her for months now.

The headline should read, "Associated Press has an orgasm and calls it a historic day."

She seems to me a sort of feminist McCarthy. Did you hear Rush today? I thought he was pretty good. I guess we'll have to wait and see, but it seems like some pretty nightmarish possibilities are on the table.

I miss the 80's we used to know who our enemies were. It is so sad that people in todays political arena hate us.

I did listen to Rush. He's always good. He has a great sense of humor. There certainly are some bad things in the wind but that could backfire on the Dems. They think they have a mandate but nothing could be further from the truth. I don't think Pelosi, Reid or a number of the far left Dems have a real grip on reality and will drag the rest over a cliff.

Nothing will backfire on the dems. No matter their foibles the media will refer to them as total successes.
Anything goes wrong it will be now and forever, Bush's fault.

They have a very modest majority in the House, extremely slim in the Senate. That is no mandate. They seem bent on scaring everybody daily. I think they will do themselves in.
