Thomas Jefferson probably also owned a copy of Plato's Republic...would it make THAT book suitable for a swearing-in, as well?
To: smoothsailing
He learned that islam was full of it!

This might belong in blogs, but it's still a worthy read.

Might as well swear in on a stack of National Geographics, or MAD magazines.

You can't read this story with out realizing pretty quick that islam can't be anything other than a blasphemous cult straight from Hell.

Islam: front and center in the slave trade of American blacks.

Thanks for posting this! I had no idea why Thomas Jefferson had this book.

Ellison, who was born in Detroit and converted to Islam while in college, I don't understand how anyone, born in America, with a college education - would want to convert to Islam. What does it offer? The only thing I get out of it is hate & destruction, if someone can enlighten me to anything else, I'd like to hear it.

I wonder if the "honorable" representative even knows the history of Jefferson and the Barbary pirates. Probably not but it won't matter because no one in the media will embarrass him by pointing out that Jefferson used that Koran for insight into how to defeat the Islamic enemy.

RE Islam:
"all nations who should not have acknowledged their authority were sinners, that it was their right and duty to make war upon them wherever they could be found" That works for me as a first strike.

I'm thinking... I'm thinking... sorry, I can't seem to be able to come up with anything.

Yet many blacks embrace Islam and demand reparations from the U.S. in the same breath.
Good post.

And yet some artful lackey would have us think that Jefferson upheld Islam and provided his Koran for the oath-taking.
I once owned a book by Lenny Bruce. Maybe they can use that next time. It would be a REAL joke.

A great article. I would lay money that Ellison has no idea why Thomas Jefferson had that Quran.
Besides, it is an interesting history lesson that I had forgotten most of.

Jefferson was a book collector. That's about it. Would like to know who gave it to him, when and why.
