Imus, Barnicle Fantasize About Republicans on Gallows: Cheney Would 'Wet His Pants'

Posted by Mark Finkelstein on January 3, 2007 - 10:05.

Big h/t to reader PJG.

Does it get any more foul than this? During the 8 AM ET hour of Don Imus's show this morning he and Mike Barnicle fantasized about how various Republicans would react to being hung on the gallows.

Note: this item was prepared from the closed-caption transcript. It will be reviewed and corrected as appropriate in the course of the morning.Imus: "I tried to imagine how members of the various current administration members would behave were they subjected to the gallows as Saddam Hussein was. I can see Rumsfeld . . . "

Barnicle: "He wouldn't take it."

Imus: "No blindfold for Rumsfeld."

Barnicle: "F-you. You go to the gallows with the noose you want, with the noose you have, not the noose you want. Whatever."

Imus: "That's exactly right. Just as that trap door opens, he drops an f-bomb to all of them."

Barnicle: "How about Cheney?"

Imus: "I don't think he would make it up the steps. This is a guy that would wet his pants and whine and start crying."

Barnicle: "He would order as a last meal 400 pounds of bacon."

Imus: "This guy has six diplomas to get out of Vietnam because he had, what was the phrase he used -- he had some more important issues to deal witH. He got his wife pregnant just to keep him out of dealing with this. Wolfowitz would cry."

Barnicle: "He would be shot in the back running away."

Imus: "Exactly."

Barnicle: "Or some of the other players."

Imus: "Richard Perle."

Barnicle: "Oh, God. He would soil himself."

Imus: "Can't you see him being dragged up by his shirt?"

Barnicle: "And a combover hanging over down the side of his head."

In one of the oddest transitions, Barnicle then asks: "Everybody well in your family, your kids, wife, all that?

Imus: "Thank God, everybody is, and I hope everybody is in your household and everybody else's household, because the health of your family, everything else pales in comparison. If you draw a breath in the morning, you're ahead of the day."

Such wonderful family values, these guys.

Well, they then either lose or gain viewers or listeners.

The decider is the marketplace, as it should be.

12-3 pm Meagre & Lousy--er, Eagan and Braude
Actually can stomach these two for an hour(Braude is a moonbat's moonbat) at noon but three hours I don't think so.Barnicle is a complete tool(along with his cast of characters) and should have gotten the ax.I'm surprised by O'Reilly 7-9.

"He NEVER EVER stops reminding people of all the good he does for the children"

His ranch in New Mexico and his brother's jokes are all I've heard him talk about, so I stopped listening years ago.

Oh, really? You seem to be of the opinion that there is no unacceptable speech:

  1. The radio talk-show-host details exactly how he intends to kill the President, complete with schedule and where he has purchased the supplies.
  2. The Wahhabi Network, broadcasting from Dearborn, MI, exhorts the many Muslims in the area to overthrow the local government with violent force.
  3. Knowing full well that it is slander, and proceeding anyways, a TV announcer proclaims a local prominent businessman of pedophilia, making up offenses and claiming, falsely, various recent arrests.

Who hasn't wondered how they might act as they approached the gallows?

I haven't, for one. And I don't sit around with my friends, fantasizing about how others might react, either. I think that's sick.

Who knows, I may check that out, but when the Sox are playing I'll be listening to that instead. "IT'S GONE!! BIG PAPI

On "jack-booted thugs".

This description always brings me to George Orwell. In 1984 he spoke of the future as like a jackboot stomping one in the face. After years of hearing of the jack-boot, it still sends a bit of a chill inside me.

I compliment those who use it. They know how to push buttons. I do believe that the thugs we know in our society do not wear jack boots. (laughs). Probably they are shod with expensive foot wear bought with proceeds of crime. I see Imus now and then. Poor man is brain impaired- and it is his fault.

The real "terrors" in the war for free speech are likely to wear pyjamas and slippers. Ask Dan Rather.

Imus is a hateful, upper west side, fraud, pretending (of all things) to be a cowboy! His disgusting on-air behavior is always excused by fellow on-air figures, simply because he is "on-air." Five minutes after he loses his microphone, nobody will have any use for him, he will not be a guest anywhere, and he will drop off the radar faster than Arthur Godfrey did.

Like pornography . . . I know it when I see it.

What I heard on Imus this morning was not a threat . . . it was entertainment.

Who would be entertained by that exchange?

Compare all the uproar to Saddam's hanging, to the MSM's detached distribution
of Berg's kidnapping and the subsequent production of his beheading for TV.

Sick entertainment.

Not bannable -- which is what you seem fixated on -- but in EXTREMELY poor taste, ESPECIALLY for a so-called nonpartisan talk show host.

You said: Imus is prone to wetting his pants simply by shifting in his chair.

Not to worry. Imus wears diapers.

What's next on MSNBC, a mock hanging of the President?

No telling what Abrams will do next.

For my cable dollar, I'd ask, "Who wouldn't be entertained by it?"

But, I accept your rhetorical question. Different strokes and all . . .

This is a repost of an article I had posted and pulled earlier because I had mistakenly identified Matthews' guest as Chris Matthews rather than Mike Barnicle.

For that matter, please note that the version posted here [posted by a fellow FReeper, not me] is not the corrected version of the transcript. I would encourage people to go to the original NewsBusters link to see exactly who said what.

http://newsbusters.org/node/9930

For that matter, if you check back at NewsBusters a little later, video of the segment will be available for your viewing pleasure.

Sorry about all the confusion but this is a heck of a story of MSM attitudes.
