What did Stern say about Imus?
Stern used to call Imus' show (Stern was the evening drive DJ while Imus held the coveted morning drive on WNBC-AM). Imus was told he wasn't funny and that he truly sucked. Imus was stunned publicly and livid off-air. The movie Private Parts didn't really touch on the animosity and slam fest Stern had with Imus. It actually painted a neutral picture of a long battle.
Stern didn't have a good week without once mentioning that Imus was a has-been...a mean little prick...and a no talent with an equally bad writing staff that he [Stern] would bury in the ratings. And when Stern buried Imus, the slam-fest grew. Drunk. Addict. Loser. Payola. Teenybopper chaser. Incoherent delivery. Mindless pointless meanderings off a given topic. OLD.
Stern would talk about Imus' golden years and then say that was long ago but the ego never left him.
IRC, Stern and his staff would incorporate Imus into comedy bits such as the Elvis channeling, Mama Lookaboobooday, and the Rabbi and Bearnice.
Man, I wish I kept those cassettes of Stern from the early 1980s. The Elvis bit and For Goyim Only were the funniest IMO. Ironically, Imus' reaction to Stern is similar to the reaction some on this thread have toward any criticism of Imus...makes you wonder.
Among other things, Stern claimed that Imus regularly referred to Robin Quivers by the N-word. Robin backed Stern up on this.
