Interesting situation. I would expect the executioners to not have hoods, while the executionee would be hooded. This picture shows the exact opposite...

Now that it's done, I wonder how long before the Bohemian Grove crowd spin a conspiracy about how the execution was faked in a collaboration between the people who hoaxed the moon landing and George Bush's pet hamster...
I'm pretty sure they're not wearing uniforms in an effort to maintain anominity for the executioners. While I'm sure most in Iraq are thrilled at the execution, I'll bet the terrorists over there would love to get their hands on the executioners.

Wow! It looks like he put on a couple of pounds from these two pictures. I thought he was on a hunger strike. His face looks rounder, but maybe its the poor filming and lighting. Must have had a few good meals at the end.
