Well Friday is the muslim holy day, so it looks like he will meet his 72 virgins (or 72 raisins) on Saturday. IIRC, Friday at high noon is the traditional time.

We definitely know
Baathists have infiltrated the police, security forces, and the army. I don't want any of them anywhere near the hanging.
Also, there is plenty of evidence they infiltrated Saddam's tribunal, as a perusal of those links will show. There is even suspicion by Shiites that Baathists have infiltrated al-Sadr's offices.
That's not to say Baathists still run the country, but it makes it damned hard to keep secrets from them.

This is going to really going to cast a dark cloud over the Dem's celebrations around the incoming Democratic Congress. They must be horribly depressed losing one of their greatest heroes.

He's not a valid "prisoner of war" he was caught in civilian clothes not a uniform. Hang 'em high.
More importantly, a prisoner of war is by definition someone who is under the control of his enemies. He can't be handed over to his enemies because he's already there.

It sounds too pat. Maybe group will try to spring him.

Well, the Bolshviks knew the Czar and his family had to die for the Soviets could move ahead with their plans.
Saddam needs to die for the supporters of a free Iraq to believe in their freedom.

I know, it sure doesn't make sense. I got it from the article that Drudge was linking to on his site.
