Monday, Dec. 4, 2006 10:44 a.m. EST Saddam May Escape Hangman's Noose
Saddam Hussein waited until the last minute before filing an appeal to his death sentence, and frequently delayed his trial with verbal tirades.
It all makes sense considering a little-reported Iraqi law, which bars the execution of anyone age 70 and above.
Saddam turns 70 in April.
On November 5, Saddam was sentenced to hang after being convicted of ordering the deaths of 148 Shiites in the village of Dujail in 1982. He is still on trial on other charges.
Saddams lawyers had 30 days from the date of sentencing to file an official appeal. They waited until Sunday, December 3.
The case now goes to a higher court. But there is no time limit for the appeal courts review, and the earliest realistic date for the former Iraqi dictators execution, if it stands up to review, would reportedly be in the spring.
Whats more, "a recent report by New York-based Human Rights Watch concluded that Husseins trial was so seriously flawed that the verdict could be called into question, according to the Washington Post.
So there is a good chance, if Iraqi law is not changed, that the appeal process could stretch past April 28, Saddams 70th birthday allowing the convicted mass murderer to cheat the hangman.
The appeals are done. Sorry, Saddam the Butcher and all your Dem and media apologists, it's over.
He won't be around by April.
His appeals process is now over. He will be hung.
There's always a catch..........
Washington comPost via Reuters reports that he is to be hanged within the next month.
I don't believe so. He executed a heck of a lot more than 147 people.
Hangman, hangman, hold it a little while, I Think I see my friends coming, Riding a many mile. Friends, you get some silver? Did you get a little gold? What did you bring me, my dear friends? Keep me from the Gallows Pole. What did you bring me to keep me from the Gallows Pole?
I couldn't get no silver, I couldn't get no gold, You know that we're too damn poor to keep you from the Gallows Pole. Hangman, hangman, hold it a little while, I think I see my brother coming, riding many a mile. Brother, you get me some silver? Did you get a little gold? What did you bring me, my brother, to keep me from the Gallows Pole?
Brother, I brought you some silver, yeah. I brought a little gold, I brought a little of everything To keep you from the Gallows Pole. Yes, I brought you to keep you from the Gallows Pole.
Hangman, hangman, turn your head awhile, I think I see my sister coming, riding many mile, mile, mile. Sister, I implore you, take him by the hand, Take him to some shady bower, save me from the wrath of this man, Please take him, save me from the wrath of this man, man.
Hangman, hangman, upon your face a smile, Tell me that I'm free to ride, Ride for many mile, mile, mile.
Oh yes, you got a fine sister, She warmed my blood from cold, She warmed my blood to boiling hot to keep you from the Gallows Pole, Your brother brought me silver, Your sister warmed my soul, But now I laugh and pull so hard And see you swinging from the Gallows Pole
But now I laugh and pull so hard And see you swinging from the Gallows Pole Swingin' on the gallows pole!
Old article, overtaken by events. Saddam dances the hemp fandango.
Hope they spring the trap when there's precipitation so Saddam will be swinging in the rain.
Hanged. Whether he is hung or not is going to be largely irrelevant to anyone but those 72 imaginary virgins.
Well then they have until April 28th to change the law, so Saddam can be a human pendulum.
I hope so but........
MANY A SLIP 'TWIXT CUP AND LIP'
If Saddam swings in one plane, his time period for a complete swing will be given by l = length of the rope tied to the noose.
On the other hand if Saddam goes round and round in a conical fashion(typically after he has broken his neck), we have
Maybe a prison warden will verify all that for us.
buy Iraqi law..within 30 days of last appeal, soooooooo by the end of January....but watch some Democrat make a last minute plead for his a$$
